Is The 780 Worth It?

Flaboss44

Should I go with a Sapphire Vapor-x 290 for $440 or an EVGA ACX 780 for $500? Are PhysX, G-Sync and Shadowplay worth it?

PhysX: not unless you play a lot of Batman

G-Sync: we have yet to see

Shadowplay: Depends on the gamer using it.

I would still go 780 just in terms of performance :)

If you can get a good overclocking 780 (which EVGA usually has) then it'll outperform the 290.

is the 780 worth downgrading my ssd from 250GB to 120GB? I will still have a 1TB HDD though

Get the 780 and the 250GB SSD, you will really enjoy it.

I don't have the budget for it though it's either 250GB with 290 or 120GB with 780

Depend on what you are using the SSD for. If you are just putting the os and a few heavily used apps on it then yes.

i'd say the 250GB with the 290 if you want to stick with more storage capacity! :)

r9 290 is an amazing GPU though!

It's up to you how valuable the features are. In terms of performance, the 290 and 780 are pretty much neck and neck.
