Going to run 5760x1080 res (U2414H) and since NVidia Surround doesn't support display port pass-through, I need a AMD card. Would a single MSI 290x be able to handle BF4 Ultra on triple monitors w/4770k. Do i need to crossfire, and can I run display port pass-through on an NVidia card?

It should do but not at 60 FPS + the most I got with my 780 TI was about 55 on ulta.

The 290X is actually faster than the 780 Ti at higher resolutions, including 5760x1080.

Can you use display port pass through while using NVidia Surround? I can buy a 690 new for $400, should I get it?

Id take a 290x over a 690 any day of the week. 290x is less power draw, less heat, more overclockability, no issues with sli shit, and has a realistic upgrade path of getting another and running xfire.

That was the highest framerate I got and that looks to be the same framerate basically it's not recommended.

But now can an NVidia card use display port pass through. I keep on asking this because I want Shadowplay, and if you can run display port pass through, I will just get 2-3 780/780Ti.

Bad idea, the 2GB framebuffer is way too small to handle 5760x1080.

If you want to play on a multi-monitor setup eyefinity is the way to go, it's a much more mature platform than surround, AMD GPUs also perform considerably better than equivalent Nvidia GPUs at higher resolutions. At Ultra you will want to R9 290s for the best possible gaming experience. You can get brand new Gigabyte Windforce R9 290s for as low as $360 right now from amazon which is insanely cheap. Two 290s running in crossfire are roughly twice as fast as a 780 Ti in a triple monitor setup and cost exactly the same.

Why do you need to run a pass-through via displayport ?

AMD has recently released GameDVR which works the same as ShadowPlay.

I need to do pass through because U2414H supports it, and it will be sooooo much easier. This/these monitors are made for multi monitor setup.

Get a 290X or two if you can afford two. You will need that 4GB for eyefinity, the 3 gigs on the 780 Ti will hold it back once more games come out.

But 290 perfroms basically the same as 290x, having both 4GB of VRAM. So 2-3 290's, oh crap, I forgor about litecoin mining... :)

If you can afford 2 780 ti's then get an R9 295X2 it beats everything under the sun even 2x780 Ti's in SLI.

All displayports support an audio pass through .

This is probably a stupid question, but can you crossfire a MSI 290 and a Windforce 290?
