MysteryManMax

You need the same GPU to crossfire... The 260X can only CF with another 260X, but the 270X can CF with a 270X, 270, 265, 7870 and 7850.

I smell a contradiction... lol

EDIT: I'm guessing you are just referring to the actual chips inside the cards being compatible.

Yes, the same way you could Cf a 280x and a 7970 because they had the same GPU

Am I out of date, Crossfire can work with 2 different GPUs, if it's never changed means you were wrong regarding all times.

CPU: Ryzen 2600 GPU: RX 6800 RAM: ddr4 3000Mhz 4x8GB  MOBO: MSI B450-A PRO Display: 4k120hz with freesync premium.

They have to be based on the same silicone, for example the Pitcairn core in the 270X can't crossfire with the 260X which is based on the Bonaire silicone, however it could crossfire with another Pitcairn chip like the 7850, 7870, r7 265, r9 270 and of course the 270x.

Ok hopefully this won't be another dumb question, what kind of performance will I get with 2 XFX 270x's? Will I be able to finally put watch dogs on high? x)

dual 270X has similar performance to a 280X or close to 290

on high settings you do get a fps boost but if you crank up to very high, it will hit VRAM limit of 2GB stutters comes in and fps spiking

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.
