Need Help Upgrading my PC. Video Editing

Go to solution Solved by Sauron,

I'd get an 8320 as other suggested (it's better bang for the buck than an 8350, especially if you oc it) and get an ssd as soon as you have the money. Everything else is fine.

Hey all, I want to upgrade my PC. I use it for editing videos and use programs such as Sony Vegas, Adobe products and Cyberlink. I have trouble editing larger projects and begin to lag, freeze and skip frames. I have built this PC little by little over the past few years so have many different PC parts ranging from 1-4 years old. I am looking to spend $100-200 range on the first upgrade and want to know what is the next part/parts I can improve the most performance. Any help is much appreciated and thanks in advance!

This is what I currently have

Windows 7 Home Professional/64 bit
16 GB Ripjaw Series Ram 21XX
AMD Phenom x4 965 Processor 3.40 GHz
Radeon HD 7970 HIS IceQX2

XFX PRO750W Core Edition 80+ Bronze ATX 750 ASUS M5A97 R2.0 AM3+ AMD 970 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard

I'd say get an FX-8320, not sure if your motherboard can support one though since your current CPU is AM3, not AM3+.

Upgrade your CPU to an FX 8350. It's the same chip as the 8320, but you'll get better overclocking results.  However, the FX 83xx and FX 9xxx series CPU's run very hot, so make sure you have adequate cooling before you overclock.

I'd say go with an 8320+212 evo. And maybe a new motherboard if you're overclocking,

Edit-
