How To Keep Your PC Cool In The Summer!

NInety

My parents don't believe in AC.

The good news is with AC is that it exists whether you believe in it or not!

His 5C decrease begs to differ.

5c lower right then, but he won't maintain those lower temps as dust builds up in the system. Which happens much quicker with no filters in place. Running higher fan speeds in the summer months will be just as effective as removing the dust filters, but dust won't be building up as quickly since the filters are still in place.

I live close to the equator its like 40°C in the afternoon and my room has no AC. Gaming on my pc feels like I teleported to the sun with GPU and CPU averaging 72°C I feel my rear exhaust fan blows all the hot air on the wall which bounces back to my face

Sent from my Nexus 7 (2013).

Hence frequent cleaning.

But it's not a practical solution. Increasing your fan speeds will provide the same results without the extra cleaning. Very few people have an air compressor, and I question those that do because of the issue with moisture building up in them. No compressor will ever be 100% from of moisture build up. So that leaves the majority of people to use cans of compressed air, which cost money. 5c will not make or break your system and will in no way improve performance. If you really want to drop your temps, increase your fan speeds and look into actually taking the time to vent the hot air from whatever room your PC is located in.

Open the door, get fans going to help move the hot air out of the room, position your computer closer to the door. There are a dozen different things you can, and should, do before ever removing your dust filters. No matter how often you open up your case, you will never fully clean the dust out of your system unless you remove things like the fans on your CPU heatsink, opening up things like top panels to get a dust that gets trapped up there and removing your GPU to properly get access to the full heatsink. Not exactly something someone should have to do once every few days because they removed their dust filters.

A Frigidaire AC right next to my computer (with several modded fans on the outside) keeps it at "23c" with browsing and music listening. Gaming, 36-41c. When I can't have the AC on for some reasons like insane bill prices or it isn't hot enough to justify its usage, I keep my computer cold by not using it.

The latter is an insane option that works incredibly well. You all should try it. I promise you will be amazed by the difference.

Here you go:

What do you do to keep your PC cool in the Summer?

To those saying "turn on AC" I gotta ask: How much you pay for electricity? Here in Mexico we basically get fucked up the ass: You can pay upwards of 1000 USD per month to keep a house with the AC most the time. That's double what most people on minimum wage make per month. Basically only the rich or the people who literally steal electricity (and risk mammoth sized fines if caught) can afford AC for more than a few hours at the time, most people only turn it on to be able to sleep through the night.
