Can I use a windows laptop as a second monitor?

I am currently travelling with a Mac work laptop and a personal windows laptop. I would really like to use the windows laptop as a second monitor (extended display not mirrored).. is there a way to do that?

VIA software yes, but its kind of a pain in the ass  most of the time and more effort then its genuinely worth.
