This may be off topic, but I only pirate things I've already bought.

For example: I lost my FSX disks a few years ago, but I still have the key

You have created a thread comparing paedophile rings to software pirates...

Picard_Facepalm_small.png

No, they are not the same, replicating software is not the same as stealing a car which is a physical object, and I'd rather have my game pirated than my car stolen, or my child abused, in that order.

Theft is theft? Then why is petty theft treated differently to armed robbery?

Each post is making this more ridiculous, I have no vendetta against you at all and this isn't personal in any way.

Why are you defending piracy?

After all, most PC gamers are pirates, another reason why no developer really cares for PC.

Except the difference here with piracy is, if you for example pirated a car, the owner of the car would still have his car.

The big issue you have with the idea is social acceptance.

You answered your own question.

Being an armed robber poses a threat to someone else's life, and if you're committing a robbery with a weapon, you're likely not permitted to own or even carry said weapon, which is another felony.

Again moral standards.

How is it that theft is illegal in physical form, and when it involves digital money?

But software? hell no.

Why is it that when you are robbed you get so butthurt?

I ended up having a long winded discussion about it in a thread not so long ago with the recent Watch Dogs game, now i do not like pirates that plain abuse the system, they are no different from a theif in the real world who steals your vehicle, only the internet masks them with anonymity, which is not 100% the case with today's technology.

Yes I answered my own question, it was offered in rhetoric to illustrate my previous point in the context of the conversation in this thread.

It seems to have passed you by, don't worry about it.
