Corsair Thermal Paste?

Go to solution Solved by johnt,

30 is all you need. 50 seems like advertising but it’s a bigger quantity, which is the biggest difference in my review. 70 is an intermediate volume and comes with applicators and cleaning wipes. Wouldn’t recommend 50 or 70 if you are doing less than five CPUs.

I need some new thermal paste by this weekend.  I live in the middle of nowhere so Amazon doesn't have same day or one day shipping out here, and while it offers "two day shipping," it takes them a couple of days to ship my stuff anyways.

My local Best Buy sells Corsair thermal pastes though.

TM30, XTM50, and XTM70.  All different prices.  I've heard XTM70 is pretty good actually, but how about TM30 or XTM50?  I'll be needing it for CPU and repasting a GPU, I won't be overclocking.

Are all of them pretty decent or should I just pay the extra for the XTM70?

depends on how much extra

all of em should be fine but if there are other thermal paste options those would be good to know alongside pricing

TM30 is $7.99, XTM50 is $14.99, and XTM70 $19.99.

My local BB doesn't sell any other brands of thermal paste in store.

And just in case you're thinking that "cleaning wipes" is some super fancy thing that can help you lots and you might need it.

This works as well :

Not restricted to that brand, any alcohol swab that contains atleast 70%.

As well as Paper Towel + 70% or above Isopropyl Alcohol. The higher the IPA %, the faster it dries.

There is approximately 99% chance I edited my post

Even if buying one time application then there really are not many ways to go wrong with any of the listed Corsair pastes.

The difference in celsius between a very good and an average paste is perhaps ~3C at max.

This depends a lot on the quality of contact between cpu and cooler.

For example, currently with the contact frame on my socket 1700 I've got good contact.

That means there's very little paste in between cpu and cooler.

So the quality of the paste matters very little.

Whereas without contact frame...

Yeah, of course the loading mechanism and applying technique play a part also. Can't really tell the best technique as even more important is to add enough paste, adding too little has a bad impact on temps, too much and you have a pool of goop around the ihs...

Yeah, I'll just grab the XMT50 then, lol, thank you.

I was just curious cause my BB used to sell Arctic MX4 in store but now only have this Corsair stuff.

I'll get the 50, cause I'll be using it for other things too, just wanted to make sure, appreciate the help!

50 is the way to go if you need quantity.
