~$1000 AUD Budget PC

Budget (including currency):  $1000 AUD

Country: Australia

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Usually for games such as cs2 and open worlds like honkai starrail. Occasionally for 3d rendering and software development

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

I don't play competitively so I don't require the highest refresh rate (120hz ideally), I would prefer all AMD as I plan to use linux but I'm open to nvidia if it has a significant performance/price difference (I don't mind missing out on features such as ray tracing). This budget won't include peripherals although I am open to suggestions!
I'm fine with going slightly above budget ($100 absolute max) but I wouldn't prefer it.

Other info:

- I plan to buy these parts within 2 months

- I need it to be repairable as I plan to keep it long term

- I don't mind adjusting settings to improve performance

- I will dual boot windows for games that aren't supported on linux

I appreciate all your help!

Id recommend buying the parts suggested asap as pricing can be decently volatile and the most optimal choce of parts now might not be the same later with price changes, that being said...

What about intel?

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/f4JydH

12600kf

7700xt

I know the CPU ain't and, but intel is cheaper and allows you to get a better GPU, compared to the 5500, which is a lot worse than the 12600kf, and the 6650xt, which is a good GPU, but is not as good as the 7700xt, which is AMD as you asked.

$1009.62 USD

You should be able to get a tier up in the major components buying used, so look for a used 6750XT or 7700XT.

However if buying a used CPU its 50/50 whether youll get the cooler too, just depends on if the seller is selling it with it or not.

Possibly see about a used case too so long as it comes with the screws etc.

Buy the SSD, RAM and PSU new as theyre just handier to buy new and have a warranty.

And for the motherboard you can try get a half decent B550 board used for the same price as a new B450.

If you have any queries about parts or want to know if something is a good deal reply here and we can give you our opinion too, i have the thread followed

System specs:

CPU: Ryzen 7 7800X3D [-30 PBO all core]

Here's some stuff I found on ebay, I'd appreciate your opinion on these:

I found these motherboards, both are the same price.. which should I get?
https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/256479459844

https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/256479166684

I found this casehttps://www.ebay.com.au/itm/175713590744

I found this cpu: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/404878633483 but it seems too cheap, worried that it would have been heavily used

I couldn't find the gpu on ebay but at this point I'm happy with the savings made already buying used

Go for the second motherboard, its the slightly upgraded versin of the first one for the same price

https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/256479166684

The case is good,

The cpu however is; not great, quite old and will also not fit in the motherboard anyway as it uses a different socket (hence the price for all of these)

Youll want possibly a 5500 or 5600

Yeah some people list the core clock speed and others the boost clock speed, no worries!

Posted (edited)

https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/325809942909 - Found this GPU, it seems to be better than the Radeon RX 6650 XT (the gpu you listed). Is it worth it?

Never mind! I was searching for the wrong thing! It is worse!

I can't seem to find anything else used that might be worth it so I'll end it here, I'm already happy with the savings made (it's under budget) and it's probably worth it for the warranty on the other parts
