Is this cooler enough?

Will this Noctua NH-L9a-AM4 chromax.Black, Low-Profile CPU Cooler for AMD AM4 (Black)  cool a AMD Ryzen 7 5800X 8-core, 16-Thread Unlocked Desktop Processor  with no trouble? I have a SG05, so I need low profile. Why do they not make cases like this, with the PSU laying on its side opisite end of the MB than the expasion card(s)?

It might be a push, what clearance do you have, i have a few suggestions that will work better and cost less, but theyre clearance dependant

 

Something like the APX90-X53 would be better, bigger heatsink, 4 heatpipes and only 53mm tall, your case has 82mm clearance

 

Or could you go for a 120mm low profile? The APX120-X67 is 67mm tall and has 6 heatpipes

Ehh not well. A 5800x runs extra hot compared to other ryzen 8 cores so a small l9 will have a bad time. Especially since it will be fighting for air too with the psu.

 

 

 

Id recommend either swapping the case or doing the chuck the sfx psu in the front thing other sgo5 owners have done so they can properly cool their cpu.

I have an L9i cooling more than the 120W this needs but with good forced case airflow. That's an old case designed for low power HTPCs and such...

There are better, and cheaper low profile options than that Noctua as have been mentioned here already. 

 

That being said going with something like that on a 5800x is going to be a struggle, especially if you're not very comfortable setting up Curve Optimizer undervolting. (i've owned a 5800x since new, still sitting under a 360 AIO and undervolted)

That's just a standard case put down on its side instead of vertically.

So the case is the prob.? it has the big  fan taking almost the whole front (SG05). Should I go down to a 5600 cpu?

The CPU definitely wont fry itself, but again any of the thermalright coolers mentioned above are going to be noticeably better performance for less money

Well will it be a good one? This is so hard, the rating system for coolers need to be listed as the watts it will cool well. Be so easy, a person would just look at the product page & know whith out researching. Which is not a big ask.
