I'm wondering if i should get a Arctic Liquid freezer 3 240 or 360 for my Ryzen 7 5800x?

Go to solution Solved by Doobeedoo,

240 wouls definitley be fine. I have 360 for 7800X3D and it's very cool.

Budget (including currency): Doesn't matter

Country: Poland

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: gaming and graphic & audio programs

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): It's a complete building but I'm currently having some doubts about my air cooled CPU temps.

Processor: Ryzen 7 5800x

GPU: Asrock radeon 6750 xt phantom gaming (12GB)

RAM: 32GB DDR4 3600mhz

Storage: M.2 SSD Kingston KC 3000 2TB

PSU: Endorfy FM5 850W 80 plus gold

Motherboard: Gigabyte B550 Gaming X V2

Cooling: Endorfy Fera 5 2x120mm

Aa i mentioned earlier i'm worried about my CPU temps.

At around 35% CPU load i have 70°C

And abot 80°C at around 40% CPU load.

I know it likes to run kinda hot but still bugs me that with just this much load it reaches such temperatures.

Haven't stress tested it to see at what load it could thermal throttle.

 Any suggestions?

Should i stay with my air cooling or should i buy the AIO ?

You can use both. 360 will be better of course and you'll be able to run lower fan speeds. Any of the two will work well.

GPU: Red Devil RX 7900XT | Sound: Odac + Fiio E09K | Case: Fractal Design R6 TG Blackout |Storage: MP510 960gb and 860 Evo 500gb | Cooling: CPU: Noctua NH-D15 with one fan

FS in Denmark/EU:

Asus Dual GTX 1060 3GB. Used maximum 4 months total. Looks like new. Card never opened. Give me a price.

Air Cooling is also possible on 5800x, dual tower for example Thermalright Phantom Sprit 120 SE

Both will be just fine. If you go larger, usually it means more quiet operation at the same temperatures or lower temperature at the same noise level.

Do note that a good dual tower heatsink can work just as well these days. The Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 is the successor to the Peerless Assassin 120 and can perform like the Noctua NH-D15 or better.

If you want to leave performance on the table yes. 5800X will benefit from whatever you throw at it.

Your temps are safe, a bit  on the high side, but you don't need any AIO ...

You can maybe gain some C with improved airflow, what's your case and fans ?

Also did you undervolt your  CPU ?

well you see Fera 5 dual is almost as good as my AG400 more or less:

1°C ahead of NH-U12S

For reference NH-U12S is noctua spec (similar to TDP but Noctua) NSPR: 129,

Noctua NH-D15 NSPR is 183,

You can also see 1 fan version of NH-D15 on the list called NH-D15S, and NH-D15 I almost missed it.

image.png.9f8aca2d450f782ad3d07faa59a51849.png

And the PA120 so PS120 is better than NH-D15 while maybe bit less quiet:

Your temperatures should be lower with a cooler like that.

How old is your thermal paste? Is the cooler clean? Are the fans in push-pull? Tried reapplying the thermal paste?

Latest motherboard Bios? Tried a negative PBO offset of 15 to 20?

I'ma at work rn i'll be home in a few hour then i'll stress test it with the side panels on the off and get back to you all.

But I can tell you this now that after some time the Glass side panel will heat up to around 30- 40°C

And the back fan will blow hot air so i guess my pc won't spontaneusly combust itself.

And I still have to move my top exhaust fan from infront of the cpu intake fan cuz it's almost certainly hindering my temps.

My rig is brand new i powered it for the first time last week.

Thermal paste is new, fans are push-pull orientation with "position pressure inside the case", MB bios is also the latest, cooler is also clean but the only thins is that i didn't try doing the neg. PBO offset

Yea, and I just remembered that i should also switch the exhaust fans

Cuz the back one is the weakest and can't keep up with the cooler exhaust fan and while the top one is 61.7 cfm compared to the back one which is 45 cfm. Oops...
