Rate this first 1440p build?

Go to solution Solved by podkall,

Honestly great, besides RAM not being 30CL, but I guess hard to change the bundle I assume.

@1440p you get more GPU bound, but even with more expensive 7700x you manage to get 7800 XT, which is nice enough.

Good PSU good quality.

Case is decent, I'd re-consider a slightly wider one, this case leaves 2mm of AirCooler clearance, which is.. yeah it's not a lot..

All looks good besides the CPU height clearance.

One thing you could get slightly better SSD, though P3's not that bad,

maybe this:

Storage: TEAMGROUP MP44L 1 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive  ($64.98 @ Amazon)

or if you could, a slightly more expensive one, @Hinjima what is your knowledge of Teamgroup MP44L?

Budget (including currency): $1250 usd

Country: USA

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: total war genre, satisfactory and game like it, ready or not, cyberpunk, and hell let loose

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): My aim is 1440p at or above 60fps. I have a found a bundle for the cpu+ram+motherboard for $370, so I am set on those parts.

PCPartPicker Part List: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/LCctBL

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7700X 4.5 GHz 8-Core Processor ($295.55 @ Amazon)

CPU Cooler: Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 SE 66.17 CFM CPU Cooler ($35.90 @ Amazon)

Motherboard: MSI PRO B650-P WIFI ATX AM5 Motherboard ($199.18 @ Amazon)

Memory: G.Skill Flare X5 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000 CL36 Memory ($106.99 @ Amazon)

Storage: Crucial P3 1 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 3.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive ($68.98 @ Amazon)

Video Card: ASRock Challenger OC Radeon RX 7800 XT 16 GB Video Card ($489.99 @ Newegg)

Case: Zalman S2 ATX Mid Tower Case ($53.99 @ Amazon)

Power Supply: Corsair RM750e (2023) 750 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply ($89.99 @ Best Buy)

Total: $1340.57 (this does not include the bundle and taxes)

Price including bundle and tax: $1131

I would like to know if y'all would make any changes. Thanks for any and all suggestions!

This is a very good list, I like it 🙂

I personally play a lot of Hell Let Loose and after upgrading to my own 7700x from an 9900k I saw a massive increase in performance and the stutter was almost completely gone ( Its Unreal Engine 4.. It WILL stutter )

I love my 7700x 🙂  Easily coolable with the Phantom Spirit 120 SE.

I would like to see 6000Mhz CL30 RAM over CL36.
Are you going with the Microcenter bundle?

Rest looks great. RM750e is a good PSU.

This is my HLL playtime so far since early 2023.

You want DDR5 CL30 seeing how games take advantage of low latency RAM.

No knowledge about them outside that they are a reputable brand and are quite common.

the stats on picker sound way better than the P3s, you know how P3s go when you're writing/reading big files..

Sure but if OP is going to be gaming only then its completely fine as speeds won't reach nowhere near max when reading game files due to the amount of small files.

oh yeah, but some games are, quite huge, and that's where these horrible numbers can be a problem:

@Hinjima, that was actually P3 Plus,

and this is Teamgroup MP44L: (only slightly more expensive, sometimes even cheaper)

the difference is night and day.

That is a great bundle!  I love the Microcenter bundles, good value 🙂

The motherboard and RAM in that bundle is good, The RAM is actually CL32 and not CL36 so that is not bad at all 🙂

As mentioned above, swap out that Crucial P3 for a faster M.2 SSD like the Teamgroup MP44L or Samsung 970 Plus.

Other than that, you are good to go in my personal opinion. I love my own 7700x and I am super happy with it, I only game as well.

Hinjima approved 👍

I intend on staying with the chosen ram as the bundle is a very good price for the parts.

For the case do you have a suggestion that better fit my build?

For the storage will follow your suggestion.

Thanks for both you and Hinjima for your help! You opened my eyes to new factors that I might have to consider.

any case that fits the cooler height and GPU length,

for example:

Case: Phanteks Eclipse G360A ATX Mid Tower Case  ($49.99 @ Newegg)

Case: Zalman S5 ATX Mid Tower Case  ($55.55 @ Amazon)

Montech X3 Mesh ATX Mid Tower Case

The case comes with three fans included, do I need more fans to keep this build cool?

AM5 isn't difficult to cool, let's look at Montech's website

it seems that it does have pre-installed fans, but with 7600 you wouldn't really run into thermal problems, the CPU cooler plays much more impact in this situation, which it has plenty of thermal cooling power
