1440 240hz vs 4k 60hz

I have done some research but can’t find a real definitive answer.

Here is my question 

I’m needing a new Monitor for a system I’m finishing building. That Will be used For mainly gaming/streaming/3d editing 

 

 ryzen 9 7900x, 4090

 

is it better to have a lower resolution like 1440 (240)hz or a 4k (60) lower Hz 

I have  a few monitors in mind and not wanting to spend a ton of money at the moment 300-500 (want to get it running)

This really depends on two things: What games do you play and are you a competitive gamer? If the answer to the first and second one was cs2, valorant, apex and yes then 1440p@144hz will do fine, though for that I would recommend 1080p@240hz. If your answer was story mode games like Hogwarts legacy, cyberpunk, last of us and no, then 4k@60fps would be a good experience. IMO if you want both then 1440p@144hz is the sweet spot.

I do enjoy some multiplayer games like warzone, valorant etc with friends and the occasional single player game.

 

but nothing to competitive. Recently found this monitor but can’t find to much on it

i'd say 4k 60 but i'm biased as i think online fps games are stupid so your millage may vary.

Can you go 4k 120? 

 

Since its a 4090 system, I'm guessing you have a pretty high budget, and a nice monitor can look a good amount better. I'd be tempted to go OLED here if you can.

I will get 1440p with 240hz.

 

I will not getting any monitor or display for gaming not at least 120hz.

Eesy, the faster Hz one. 60Hz makes no sense for many years.

if you have to pick btwn those 2, definitely the the 1440p 240hz, but i'd recommend spending a bit more for 4k 120 for 550

There is no set in stone resolution or refresh rate. I was just kind of curious how modern monitor resolution and refresh rate combinations look. 
I’ve been out of the pc world for quite a while and getting back into it

For the games you mentioned, 1440p 240Hz seems like the most reasonable combination that fits in your budget. Of course 4K 240Hz models would be even better as the higher resolution can help with productivity tasks, but they cost >$1000. I'd recommend to give the $400-$500 sections of the following video a watch:
