Looking for 2TB nvme recommendation for this pc.

Enavin

Picked up a pc on FB market for my father and am looking to add in a 2TB nvme as owner held back their drive.

Build - https://pcpartpicker.com/list/VGYG6D

The drive in the build is the one I was considering.

PC gives father something relatively current versus the pc I built him 8 years ago.

pretty banger, how much did you pay for it?

For the SSD I would go with Solidigm P44 Pro series, or if you can get the MP600 core you listed above for cheaper price, why not? since this drive also will be used as a boot drive 😁

Nice pc! I would look at the Crucial P3 - cheap and reliable

if you want a really nice SSD then the Samsung 980 pro is good

Crucial P3 is cheap and will be plenty fast. If you have access to a Microcenter, get their Inland 2TB drive.

It was 1900 but also had a Samsung Neo G8, and a fully array of pc peripherals. Graphic card was originally a 3090 rog strix (I swapped my 3080ti for it).

OK so it seems like I was hunting in the right price range. I'll keep on watching for some price movement as I've got til the 8th to make sure it'd arrive for his birthday.

Thanks for the input!

Should I opt for the plus? Curious if the Gen 3 to Gen 4 speeds make that much of a difference.

Another vote for the P3. Would it be a bad idea to opt for a newer nvme 1TB as the boot drive and throw a 2TB P3 as a secondary?

Did some more digging and reading about the suggestions and other drives in the range and decided on going with a WD Black SN850X 2tb.

Thanks for the input here, I'm going to be picking up a 2tb P3 as a secondary drive for my pc 😉

That MP600 core XT is weak slow QLC SSD, how it cost 150$ is just beyond me.
like the MP600 pro LPX is for 155$ on Amazon, and it’s the top tire one from Corsair (5$ difference, between one of the worst corsair PCIe 4.0 SSD, and one of the best corsair PCIe 4.0 SSD they have )

And funny enough, the MP600 core XT is on the exact same hardwear, as the crucial P3, and P3 plus (Phison E21T + 176l QLC Micron in all of them).

weak controller, and slow QLC nand, (p3 is just FW limited to PCIe 3.0, but it’s so slow, it dosn’t do much).

that SN850x for 144$ is like 2 class above them in speed, and on good TLC nand, a top tire PCIe 4.0 SSD, good buy.
