What amount of gigs is a good ssd for windows 8.1. Will it make a speed difference to put my games on there? If so how many gigs?

120GB, 240GB if you can afford it. It depends on how many games you play/programs you use, Windows takes quite a bit of space, but there's still plenty left for a bunch of games and programs. If you want to be on the safe side and not have to worry about not ahving enough space, get at least 240GB. It's tough to tell, only you know how many games you play, etc.

It will make a speed difference in booting time of your games, but not in performances (you won't get a better framerate)

Depends ow savvy you are with saving space. If you try installing everything on a secondary HDD, 60GB of space is just fine.

However, I'd go with 120 or 256 GB if you can afford it, it is much better if you get a larger one to be honest.

Compatible with Windows 95

Depends on your budget. I dedicate SSD's to different task. one for OS and one for Games....etc..

120Gb or higher should be more than enough for the OS and some or maybe all your programs(depends on what use your PC for really)

Will it be better for games, more so for load screens. But SSD's are just great for a general perf boost for the whole system.

CORSAIR RIPPER: AMD 3970X - 3080TI & 2080TI - 64GB Ram - 2.5TB NVME SSD's - 35" G-Sync 120hz 1440P

I like to go with a 120GB SSD, since that leaves room for all of the updates and some programs or documents. 60GB will do fine (after I had everything installed with Windows 7 and my programs and a ton of music and pictures, I only had 27GB used).

For a boot drive used for mainly programs with the odd game thrown on there from time to time, 120GB is really the minimum nowadays, there are some really great value 120GB SSD's floating around for as little as £45 (Pounds, not Dollars). To have room for a half dozen fairly large games and all your programmes, and just in general, I'd always recommend a 250GB SSD.

@Matthew45985

I put my OS and all programs on my 120GB and put games on my storage. There was a GeForce experience bug a few months back that would write excessive nonsense and filled up my SSD, but other than that 120 has been perfect.

120GB SSDs are actually pretty cheap these days. In my email, Newegg gives me daily deals. I saw one for around 40 bucks with promo code. Kingston SSDNow V300 120GB.
