  1. Hello everyone! I'm a networking student that's planning to redo my vlan and trunks. Currently I've got a 3750X and a 3750G. The 3750X is my "core" while my 3750G hosts my vSphere traffic. I'm looking to redo my VLAN's since only one seems to work anymore. Also, the switches aren't trunked together since they don't necessarily need to communicate with one another. *Side Note*, I may need to reset my switch, my CLI isn't letting in authenticate. I'm able to get into the WebUI however "invalid password" on CLI. My Current VLAN setup: VLAN 10: 10.1.8.0/24 - CoreLAN+WiFi VLAN 20: 10.1.9.0/25 - Active Directory Lab (has active clients) VLAN 30: 10.1.9.129/28 - Guest WiFi (captive portal + WPA2 Personal) VLAN 40: 10.1.9.145/29 - DMZ VLAN 50: 10.1.3.0/24 ? - vSphere + JumpServer traffic (Only on 3750G) *These subnets are subject to change, AD lab needs a /24.* It appears that the only VLAN for WiFi working is VLAN 10. 20 & 30 aren't working (they used to). I have AP's plugged into Gi 0/1/2, 0/1/4, 0/1/6. The trunk port from my firewall is Gi 0/1/1. WiFi SSID's *not real SSID's* Secure - VLAN 10 AD Lab - VLAN 20 Guest - VLAN 30 I need some guidance on how to set this up correctly with the correct native VLAN and trunks. I have no problem assigning the VLAN's to ports, but I don't fully understand how to configure the trunks correctly. Thanks!
  2. Thank you! I think the issue was related to my UPS. Although none of my other network gear or hardware had any other issues. I have a R710 with Hyper-V 2019 on it and saw no issues. I'm going to spin up my other HP with the HPE VMWare 6.7 image and give that machine a shot. Thank you all!
  3. Great info. I've started to think it could be my UPS. I actually swapped one PSU over to direct line voltage. We'll see if that fixes it. If one PSU goes out, then we know the UPS is bad. I'll get into the iLO and see if I can get the onboard clock set properly. It's possible the battery is dead..
  4. Hello everyone, server shutdown again.. This is the iLO log. (Hopefully you can see) I think I'll upgrade my second host to 6.7 U3 HPE and see what happens. Does anyone have any thoughts for the random shutdowns? I've seen it on multiple machines from HPE. I'm using the HPE ESXi version.
  5. Great information, I already had the HPE images downloaded. I'll just have to burn them to a USB. Thank you! I have cleared the ILO since the last hard shutdown. If it shutsdown, before I can update, I can take a look.
  6. Hello! ILO was already up to date. I was going to try to update to 6.5 or 6.7 U3. However, question. Can I still use vSphere Software instead of the webUI? I'd prefer to use vSphere Software.
  7. Thank you! I actually read somewhere about the ILO causing issue. I wonder what fault could have hit the ILO. I'll check and get back with you.
  8. Hey everyone! I've got a cluster of HP DL380 G7 and HP DL380 G8's that run ESXi. The G7's have 6.0 and 6.0 (planning to upgrade). The G8's have 7.0. Both are running the HPE versions of ESXi. Homelab servers are licensed by enterprise keys. For some reason my 6.0 host keeps hard shutting down every few days. I haven't been able to pinpoint the cause. I've ensured that VM's are either activated or on evaluation keys. I have glanced over the logs but can't find anything significant. Has anyone else had this issue? The hardware should be working. When the HP shuts down, it has red LED's on both PSU's. Before you say PSU's are bad, I had the same issue with 6.0 on a G6 HPE server. It can't be a hardware fault since these machines were pulled from a working enterprise. I am also using iLO on the machines. Any ideas? I am able to re-pull logs if needed. Thank you!
  9. The vPro let's you host VMs. Although you have to enable settings in the BIOS.
  10. The last time I tried one of these, I got countless errors. But I'll give it a try on a VM. I wonder if it breaks more with each Windows 10 Feature Update.
  11. I love Windows 7. I still have it running on my Lenovo X1 carbon. I have Windows 10 on my gaming rig but I have a 2008R2 DC and Windows 7 client in my lab. Lot's of Enterprises still run 2008, 2008R2 and Windows 7. We upgraded everyone to Windows 10 a couple years ago, but most of our servers are still 2008R2.
  12. I haven't seen any issues so far. I'm running 20H2 (OS Build 19042.870) Windows 10 Pro. Check your Event Viewer to see if Windows is throwing any strange issues. Does your machine BSOD or just hard reset?
  13. This looks incredible. I'll throw it on a VM. What I'd love to see is a "Classic" theme for current versions of Windows. I know there are some available, but most are flagged as viruses or make your system unstable. If I could run Windows 7 Classic still I would.
  14. The Lenovo, Dell or HP "Tiny" workstations are great if they have i5 or i7's with V-Pro for VM's. You could load ServerCore on them and have Hyper-V. Check out this link: https://www.servethehome.com/introducing-project-tinyminimicro-home-lab-revolution/
  15. Use Udemy. They have great courses CHEAP. I recommend DavidBombal. He does great lessons. Don't just focus on CCNA etc. You'll need to have a basic understanding of AD and other SysAdmin tools.
