1 or 2 tb for main drive?

xrayglow99

Hello y'all,

I'm buying a new nvme for my main drive and was wondering if it matters whether I should go with a 1 tb or 2 tb drive.  I already have an extra 1 tb drive as a backup in my system with a 500gb main drive.  I was running out of space on the main drive which is why I am buying a new drive.  I play some games and usually store them on the 2nd drive but I also use VirtualBox and use multiple VMs which take up space as well.  Just wondering if I should go with 1 or 2 tb for the main drive.  Thanks.

Thanks for the input. I will most likely go with a 2 tb drive but just wanted some input.

If you are planning to keep the 500GB drive as your boot drive i would go with the 2tb drive any move anything you can onto the 2tb drive i.e games and VMs. let your boot drive handle windows and the 2tb drive do everything else.

Not planning on keeping the 500gb ssd. Just planning on upgrading. Just wondering if there was any difference on using a 1 or 2 tb drive for the main drive.  Thank you for your response.

2tb isn't enough. 4tb external is the way to go

and nows the time to buy before prices go up. I picked up a 4tb t7 for 260cad or 180 usd and couldn't be happier its nice having extra space and the ability to move files from system to system

I like a smaller drive for boot.

For C: I have a 1TB NVME and bigger ones for D: & E:.

For VMs, I have them reside on D:.
