which brand and model? the 4070 super and 4070 ti super are quite efficient so unless your psu is Tier B and up then I'd say you can keep it

I'm not entirely sure. It was a prebuilt from IbuyPower. it was their TraceMeshI7N3601.

Ohh ok, I'll have to take a look at that. I'm on a tight budget right now since I'm a student, so i was hoping to spend as little as possible upgrading the GPU. I'll get the make and model to you as soon as I can just to be sure.

for gaming an amd card would be better for price to performance (7800 xt or 7900 xt)

for a cheaper psu - Thermaltake Toughpower GF1 (2024) 750 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply (PS-TPD-0750FNFAGU-P) - PCPartPicker

Ohh ok, that PSU looks do-able. And how do those cards compare in Ray tracing to the RTXs?

quite badly. A 7900 xt is essentially a 4070 super in RT, but better than a 4070 ti in rasterization

Your system with a 4070 won't even need 500W, and barely 30W more than before (200W to 170W), your current PSU will be fine

get one of the nvidia cards then. but the 7900 xt should be 75 bucks cheaper than the 4070 ti super (or somewhere there)

actually sounds legit, the Ti Super is 600W recommended PSU with it's TDP being like 45% of the recommended PSU

The 4070 Super doesn't use that much more power than your current 3060 (+35 watts according to TPU's gaming average in the 4070 Super review), so if your current PSU can handle the 3060, then I think you'll be alright.

The 4070 Ti Super uses a big chunk more, around +90 watts, so if your PSU is only borderline, then this could be a problem.

That said, without knowing the quality/OEM of your unit, this is all just guesswork. A decent 600 could handle all/any of those cards.

Very good website:

https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/geforce-rtx-4070-ti-super.c4187

each GPU on the list is a clickable link that goes to that specific model's stats and it's % set to 100 for comparison
