Why do the youtube players on these videos look different?

Both of these videos have been uploaded to youtube, but if you look carefully at the size of the buttons or functions on the player they're different. In one they are totally bigger than in the other. What causes this? I think there might be a youtube setting you can change for your channel or it may have to do with the format of the uploads. Then again it may be a feature that only big channels can choose to enable. The smaller icons look sleeker to me.  

 

What do you guys think? What changes the size of the icons on the player?

 

When I upload 1920x1080 MP4 videos they look like

When some other channel uploads look like

Here's another big channel that uses the "fat" player layout like what my default videos use.

I can't see any difference but that could be because I'm using YoutubeCenter

your pc or eyes are messing with you mate, the only difference I see is yours being a playlist and the rest not.

both identical here, using both Firefox and Chrome, you will have to print screen to show us the difference, it will be useful to know what you are using, Chrome/Firefox/ect.

Now that you mention it. When I right-click on my Dead Rising 2 videos or the Vsauce video the option "About the HTML5 player" comes up, while when I right-click on the Sourcefed video it says "About Adobe Flash Player....". Why would some uploads play in Flash and the others play in HTML5? 

 

For the record I'm watching the videos in Chrome Web Browser on my Desktop running Windows 7.

Youtube has had HTML5 in beta for a while now as a better way to stream video that flash player. Better site load times, less CPU overhead, and so forth are a few benefits of HTML5. Not all videos are uploaded with the player, as they haven't completely switched over.

The thread figured out that my videos and the Vsauce example are using a HTML5 player, while the Sourcefed video is using Flash. That is why they look different, but now I'm wondering why youtube would have different players for youtube?

 

I'm using Chrome OS on a Desktop running Windows 7.

Pretty much solved. The last piece to the mystery would be what determines if a video is gonna use one or the other? Does that affect whether the videos will run at all on some devices? Youtube is mysterious in that you can't get feedback from them in the same way a lot of other sites or companies work.

 

The HTML5 player looks less flashy and sleek, but if it's faster and uses less resources, function over fashion is my motto for this situation. If Flash plays better looking videos that could change the argument.

i'm not sure if it affects what devices run what videos. I know that HTML5 was necessary for my multi-monitor setup to run videos in fullscreen in Ubuntu. as far as what determines it, it depends on if you have HTML5ify in your chrome extensions and if you're signed up for the beta through youtube itself(as i am)

I have to force Youtube to use the flash player. The HTML5 player always desyncs the audio.

I think Youtube is trying to move everyone to HTML5, as flash doesn't work on a lot of things and its pretty insecure.

ah, you opted to see the beta changes of HTML5, I didn't enable that so mine looks exactly alike.

Actually, more people have problem with HTML5. It's not there yet.

And there is current no benefit in terms of work load for the system, and HTML5 still playing catch-up, just for playing music. HTML5 has a long way to go.

Google is strange, they want to push HTML5, but more than half the videos on YouTube, including new ones, aren't in HTML5.

Now it's going to use Flash, and you'll enjoy the same player working everywhere.

 

When I go to that link there's no button to opt out. If I click on anything nothing happens.
