How often do you do maintenance of your PC?

Dust cleaning, a little less than half a year. File cleaning and organizing, every other month maybe. I have this thing, where I collect loads of files and downloads and then when I'm in the mood I look through every single directory and do a deep cleaning. I also never have more than 4 folders on my desktop. And I NEVER have files on my desktop that stay longer than 1 day.

My parents bought me a new PC because I had been asking for it for 2 years. So they bought me an ASUS pre-built one. Now I want to clean my PC , but they will not allow me to open it until the 2 year warranty ends. Am I correct in thinking that a PC should cleaned about every 3 months ? BTW could someone tell me if this is in the wrong place on the forum.

Does the warranty end if you open it?!

Yes. Unfortunately there is a seal on the sidepanel.

your waranty wont be voided when you open it, anyway not that i know of, only way for asus to know if you ever opened it is if there is a sticker that has a void waranty warning on it,

just when cleaning, hold the fanblads so they wont turn, if youre doing it with compressed air, it will burn your CPU fan connectors and migh burn your mobo

For nearly 2 year time I've had my current rig, I've never cleaned it...

Maybe it's time to buy some compressed air...

Never trust my advice. Only take any and all advice from me with a grain of salt. Just a heads up.

I clean mine every so often, but that's stupid how they seal it... How in the hell are you supposed to clean your computer :o

Exacly! I would think that with ASUS they would get that.

Waiting for warranty to end before you do something to an item is so dumb.

The point of the warranty is so that you can return it if it breaks. Just open it and clean it. How are they going ot know?

I've had my rig for two years, and I've never really needed to clean it - I have only cleaned the intake dust filters few times.

I keep it on my desk instead on the floor, and keep dust off my desk.

Unless dust really starts to gather inside the case or the cooling performance drops I probably don't need to use pressurized air anytime soon.

I clean mine on a monthly basis but, my room is rarely clean so the dust goes straight to my pc. Try contact asus and if they cannot provide a solution that does not void warranty or cost you money then just make sure you keep your room as clean as possible.

So I spelt something wrong in my post... I don't care I don't read through what I write and I type very quickly.

Every couple weeks. I'll take a close look through the glass window every couple days and see if I think it needs a clean.

I can be a cynical a**hole at times. I apologize if I cause any offence at those time. I also occasionally have issues communicating my point. Extreme introversion + Photographic memory + Some other things.

Once every two months for dust and once every 6 months for coolant and once a year for full break down of everything, change of tubes and rebuild.

A water-cooled mid-tier gaming PC.

I clean my desktop once a month. I clean the dust filters with a vacuum cleaner and use canned air to blow most of the dust away from the components. Every 3-4 months I disassemble my rig and use an air compressor for cleaning all the dust away from heatsinks, fans etc. Peripherals are cleaned every two weeks.

Laptop gets a damp microfiber towel every two weeks.
