Galaxy Buds2 really aren't that great

da na

I recently bought a pair of Galaxy Buds 2 to replace my old wireless earbuds, a 4-year-old, $10 wish.com no-name set with the case hinge held together with duct tape, simply because I lost the left one on a plane.

The Galaxy Buds were on sale for $60, about half off their normal price, so I thought I'd give em a go and honestly, I'm not impressed. If I was handed these without knowing their price, I'd peg them around $40 from their quality, not their normal sale price of $140. They're quite comfortable and have good battery life on both the buds and case, but sound quality is significantly worse than my beloved off-brand pair. The entire back is a touch sensitive pause button in addition to being quite round and slippery. Thus, they have a tendency to pause and resume your music/video numerous times while you are trying to take them out of your ear to talk to someone. And don't even think about wearing these with wet hair; I've had this problem with other wireless earbuddies but the Smasnug seems to have the most egregiously sensitive capacitive touch. The case also doesn't seem to have a battery indicator like my old set, with 5 little LEDs to show battery level. In short, if you're looking for wireless earbuds it seems to not matter at all whether you go big name brand or "Aeomijdxh" etc. from AliExpress. I do appreciate their "notification" sounds (for pairing, low battery, etc) being rather quiet and pleasant, versus the 80 decibel horrible noises that offbrand ones are prone to spewing out - that's really the only big advantage.

I loved my first gen galaxy buds, but they were very much the definition of "fine" when it came to sound quality.

I am quite a fan of Pixel Buds A series and Airpods pro for TWS sound quality and features available.

Wait until you hear what happens when you sell/lose the phone they're connected to. In a year of occasionally trying I haven't been able to get mine to unpair from my old phone. There's supposedly a way to manually do it, but mine refuse to.

I'm not actually trying to be as grumpy as it seems.

I will find your mentions of Ikea or Gnome and I will /s post.

Crap.

Paired them to my HTPC to test them out.

Guess they're indoor earbuds only now

It might be different for you. Mine might just see that my old phone is no where near and maybe think they're "stolen" or something stupid.

I think dankpods did a video review of them, and I generally agree with him.
