I don't understand the Microsoft Edge Hate.

I think Microsoft edge is a perfectly good browser and chrome is overrated. It hogs my memory anyway. Why does edge get so much hate?

Because of bing and Microsoft pushing their browser onto you

because original edge was huge ass, and chromium edge is essentially just 'yet annother chromium browser' whose only standout feature is integration into an ecosystem no one likes.

 

it's not worse than chrome, it's just also not any better than chrome, so all it can ever be is a "meh" in an ocean of browsers that are at least "meh", except this one has microsoft's endless desire to make UI just a bit worse every update.

Well the same thing is true for apple products and safari. Even chrome on chromebooks.

But on my windows laptop edge tells me that I 'don't need to install a new browser because I have edge'

It's a good browser ruined by M$ aggressiveness to shove their things through your throat, even Chrome don't do that

because it's the HEAVILY pushed default for any file type it can support while history that was not the case for internet explorer

Even in pro versions of Windows you cannot uninstall Edge without a significant amount of force.

Also I dislike how Microsoft removed the old Edge without any regard for the people and businesses who used it. Especially the Surface users who used its unique features for e-reading and marking up text.

 

I agree Chrome is overrated and has nothing special.

Edge will run the background and will sometimes use half of the system ram. It has happened plenty of times, it is an unwanted turd.

I do. Bing will often put shitty adds as the top result, not the actual site. And in general it provides worse, more irrelevant results when given the same query as Google. Hell I can totally bungle what I type in to Google and it'll still figure out what I was looking for and return relevant results.
