which should i go for

64 or 128 DDR5

i have 64gb ddr5 ram un oppened. i have a chance to return it and upgrade to 128.

 

These are a total of 4 sticks per set

 

currently my rig has ddr4 64 and will be upgrading to ddr5.

 

i do mostly gaming with some editing using photshop, premier pro and some data recovery from time to time.

 

What should i go for

Depends on your platform and how many DIMMS. Many boards won't be stable at 128 GB with more than 2 DIMMs at full XMP / EXPO speed.

uh my motherboard is the x670-p crosshair

 

just incase i didnt mention its 4 sticks of 16

The only kits supported on that board with 128 GB (4x32) are from Kingston @ 5200 MHz CL40, which is not an ideal choice in terms of speed and latency with your processor. It may still work but it hasn't been tested for. Question is if you can even make use of the extra memory at all.

uh processor it 7950x3d. 

 

i honestly am not sure. im thinking about future proofing a bit.

i would keep that 64gig kit 128 is unesseary if you keep the system for a few years and then upgrade maybe the ram gets cheaper and then you can safe cost when it becomes nesessary. I live quite well with 32gig just my opinion tho

Why is 2x32GB at 6000MHz CL30 not an option?

my local vendor has it but problem is when its out of stock its out of stock. and if he doesnt bring it back i need to swap out.
