Can we all please be a little sensible and considerate to each other

Since the videos on LMG and Linus' response, things have been understandably very explosive. Just in a few posts I have been accused of both bashing LMG/Linus, and being a fanboy. I see people going ham on each other, constantly accusing each other, attacking Linus or Steve (GN), and mods getting plenty of heat while this maybe the biggest dumpster fire they have ever had here.

 

No matter what your believe is, the simple fact is that thousands of posts ripping on each other, is not gonna help anyone. And giving a sensible response, really goes out the window when things get heated. 

Remember, even though these are all just pixels on your screen, there is a person behind it writing it. That includes the main players Linus and Steve. Be critical, but also be sensible and decent.

On the other side of the story, this whole fiasco giving me a positive impact. All this hot take just wake my long lost hobby of "binge-reading" whole comment on that thread while sipping a big glass of bitter coffee

Some people seem to see these situations as an excuse to let it all out at someone, and that is horrible. I don't support Linus's actions, but imagine everything going from fine and dandy, to people saying your children should be forced to move out and then posting the floatplane sub count dropping almost like a game. Some people seem to want to see the downfall of LTT rather than the improvement the GN intended.

Nobody has accused the community of any wrongdoing so there is no need to destroy ourselves over the mistakes of another company.

I'm actually surprised that there are this amount of  sensible posts around.

For a shit storm this big, it's no where near as bad as i thought it was going to be.

maybe I just don't focus on posts that seems extreme or fanatic, but thing still seems chill enough to have good conversation.

More youtuber drama, no sense in getting all tangled up in it or personally invested. Just vote with your wallet if you're concerned enough.

Nice to see there are reasonable threads around. People seem to get angry or super invested. While not a fan of what happened, I just don't understand the need for all this hate and personal animus. As others have said, if you feel some way about it, feel free to vote with your wallet. However, stop the mud slinging, and acting out as though Linus did this to you personally.

I think the flip side to that coin is that some people are very invested in ltt be it time, actual money, or other. So when Linus fumbles (really hard) this does feel personal to many people. I fully acknowledge that the YouTube relationship is very one sided. Most of his viewer prob do feel like he is a friend, brother, dad whatever but from his side we are really just a number, and so to many this most likely does feel like a bigger deal to them then it does to ltt /Linus

I'd really like to request the mods to pin a message to the GN post about community guidelines. The personal attacks are not constructive. While discussions around GN's methodology and LTT's issues are fair game, I see no reason to allow the sniping and caustic behavior. Personal attacks one other members and on Linus and Steve for that matter should stop.

 

It's probably too much for mods to warn/flag everyone because it's just too many people, too many posts but at the very least can we just remind everyone that the point is to discuss what happened. Air our viewpoints and essentially be heard. Even just speaking into the ether can be cathartic.

I'm sure he could have been much more critical and unfair but he was genuinely giving criticism to LTT and it's not cool to call someone a snake for being a good friend

Yeah I'm with you. The fanboys on BOTH sides are getting absolutely braindead and blinded by their support for LMG or GN. Just like how corporations aren't your friends, nor are parasocial relationships with YouTubers. You can be objective and constructive without resorting to bashing the other person and their fanbase. It seems like too many neckbeards are tired of feeling like they're doing nothing with their lives and decide to "take charge" of some "cause" on the internet to make themselves feel like they're contributing to the world in some meaningful way but in reality they're just making it worse. Ok perhaps I'm being a little hypocritical now...

Well, I come here for information from experienced users, not to get my panties in a wad over who said what about whom. To that end, I hope anyone who replies to a post of mine puts themselves in my place before typing one character. I try to do this and find it pays dividends in getting accurate, timely info.

The growth of the channel might be true but to say that this was the reason for releasing the video is a bad try to obscure the fact that the talking points in the video made by GN are indeed true.
