Is it weird to like women for vocals in music, as a man?

If someone were to ask me that, I would say no in a heartbeat, but listening to bands like In This Moment and Icon For Hire publicly, it really makes me feel weird, like I'm not supposed to listen to that sort of thing in public.

 

Whenever I listen to 5FDP, All That Remains, Killswitch Engage, etc. publicly, it feels like that's what I'm supposed to listen to around other people because I'm a dude.

 

Although the tone seems to resemble some seriousness, it's not meant to be very serious, I just wonder if anyone else feels like that.

I don't like vocals in my music, especially random moaning female vocals but thats just me. I don't think there's anything wrong with liking female vocals though.

The only reason I can think of that you'd think people would think you liking female vocals is a little weird would be because you're gay.

I sort of akin it to people thinking me wearing florescent pink shoe laces is odd. I rocked that shit for a couple years steady. Got more numbers because of it.

No no, I wasn't implying you were. I just think that other people thinking you're gay is the only reason you'd think it odd to listen to female vocals.

If it isn't that, I don't know why you'd think it was odd at all. I listen to all types of music and don't even think about that. Nor do I care what others think.

I mostly listen to dubstep and hardcore, but i have a real soft side for good singers, Michael Jackson, Ellie Goulding, Muse etc, there are loads of great singers out there, why be sucked in by arseholes?

Nothing wrong with that. Hell, there are some really awesome male vocals, too. I think you should stop caring (so much) about whatever people think about you. Lying to yourself isn't a way to live and sure, you might feel insecure about it, but soon or later it'll just become something a part of you and you can scream out loud one day: "I LOVE MADONNA!", or something like that. That and you might learn that other people might have similar tastes or might be like you and insecure about their tastes in music, food, clothing, etc.

 

I think I mentioned this in several places, but I do like Christina Perri's, Kate Nash's, Imogen Heap's, Anna Kendrick's, Lady Gaga's, Emily Haines's, Blake Hazard's, Regina Spektor's, and plenty other female singers' works. And come on, tell me you can't squee while listening to this.
