Q. Odin Pro 800w and rtx 3080

Go to solution Solved by Somerandomtechyboi,

Id be leaning towards no because its a shitty quad rail, it problably has a few more years of life left but dont think its suitable for a higher end gpu.

Psu market has gone to shit so i would reccomend buying a used 750/850w unit off your local used market (can be accessed via classifieds sites like fb marketplace), if youd like a reference as to how good the deals are then here in indo which is a developing country i can buy used 850w gold units like the superflower leadex gold for 55$ when new id be looking at 100$+, so id expect better deals in a more developed country

As for the gpu if you are buying that 3080 new i would reccomend a used 3090 over a new 3080 because it has lots and lots of vram, theres a bunch of em floating around 700$ on ebay, just gotta make sure you can return if faulty and you are completely safe buying used

If you are buying a used 3080 i would reccomend a used 6800xt or 6900xt instead as they have more vram than the 3080

Good day everyone i have a question.

I've had this psu (Gigabyte Odin 800w pro)for over 10 years and everything is fine with it and i know it is old my question is will it be fine with a palit gamingpro rtx 3080 10gb card?

My rig is:

Ryzen 5 5600

2*8 3733 DDR4 kingston

Asus tuf b550m

1tb wd black 7200rpm

500 gb ssd sata kingston

500 gb nvme Kingston

Palit RTX 3060 ti dual OC LHR

7 fans with a controller

It will work but I would retire the PSU, its had a good life and its time to throw it in a closet as a backup.

Thank for the opinion man but unfortunately our used market psu is bad in Jordan middle east here and the card is used and the person will exchange his 3080 with my 3060ti for about 200usd which is super good in my country if there was a rx 6800xt i would go for it and by the way the cheapest rtx 3090 that i found here is 800$ which is a lot tbh

Is there a way to test if the psu is still viable? Software wise cause i don't have any hardware stuff like oscilloscope

Damn that is a good deal

But make sure you dont get hosed and the 3080 actually works, no artifacting, no random crashing

Abit above ebay prices, but for whatever reason here in indo i can buy used 3090 for only 600$ which is nuts

considering the age and how a 3080 did NOT like my hx1000 from 10 years ago I'd say that gigabyte is not gonna do it either

Nope and even a ociliscope isn't a proper piece of equipment as you need to load test it.
