What would give better fps?

Prodigydeadeye
Go to solution Solved by hal9001,

It would be very similar, but when you aren't recording the 280x would destroy the 760.

A GTX 760 recording using ShadowPlay or a R9 280x recording using Fraps?

I should be studying.

MSI has some type of recording feature that comes with their cards, maybe it is some type of Shadowplay too? I know it is not it exactly as I saw them on AMD boxes too

I think you're referring to MSI Predator, not sure how it works though.

Just get the 280X, use Dxtory and you're golden. Although Shadowplay is such a good feature. (for me)

Blah, blah blah, shadow play is awesome blah blah blah. I would still personally get the 280x, due to it being a better performing card when you stop recording. Just my 2 cents.

Open Broadcaster and Dxtory is a good recording combination that doesn't hit the CPU as much as fraps, Logan has a video on how to set it up.

I use it for my card and it's a Sapphire. Not as efficient as xsplit, but it gets the job done for free.

Just tried that and it works amazingly. Having used a 760 with shadowplay the performance hit with this is almost none. (used msi afterburner)

Well go for a 280x or a 770 if you can fit it in your budget, a 280x outperforms a 760 any day because I'm 99% positive you won't record 24/7.

Emmh... Maybe consider killing yourself before you talk to me?

Pople on this forum though some of them had a brain, turns out, no.

760 would get better performance while recording with fraps on an amd card. But fraps is terrible.

What you should do is get a 770 they are similar to the 280x in performance and price.

Is TS really from Japan?   In Japan GTX760 is much cheaper than 280x.

A GTX 760 recording using ShadowPlay or a R9 280x recording using Fraps?

I have a problem with this comparison. The R9 280x is a over $300 card (idk where you live but USA is where I live) and a gtx 760 is between 200 and 300 dollars right now. Why not compare a gtx gtx 680 or gtx 770 which you can get between 300 and 400 bucks used which I have seen 2 different gtx 680s for $300 on ebay for buy it now price and the gtx 770 for 350. The 700 series (besides the 780 and up) is just the "rebranded" 600 series with a few improvements. If you really want shadowplay which really doesn't hurt your FPS from what I find using it then get a used gtx 680 (680 would def give better performance then the 760 and better or similar to the r9 280x) or a gtx 770.

In short, my suggestion is a gtx 770 (what I have and works fantastically) or a gtx 680 used.

I have a policy about not buying used PC parts. I am crazy I know. I think it is a fair comparison. At the time of this post, I could have gotten an R9 280x for $290 dollars. The GTX 760 was priced at at least $250 dollars. These are American prices. The GTX 770 was a little more expensive at around $340. These were from Newegg. Now, using a GTX 760 and recording using ShadowPlay, I would take a very small hit to performance. While using an AMD R9 280x and recording with fraps, I would take a larger performance hit, possibly bringing the fps down to the level of performance of a GTX 760. I was wondering which would give me better fps while recording using these two solutions. Price had nothing to do with the post. I would pay an extra $40 for a bit more performance while recording and even more when not recording.

I should be studying.
