48GB Or 96GB?

Hello, I am looking to buy an Overkill Gaming PC. I'm now currently going for a Corsair build with the ASUS ROG Strix GeForce RTX 4090 and I would like Corsair components.

 

I was wondering if I should get 

Corsair Vengeance RGB DDR5 5600MHz 48GB

Or

Corsair Vengeance RGB DDR5 5600MHz 96GB

 

Will the 96GB be faster than the 48GB for my 4K Gaming with Max Graphics in all Games or will 48GB be enough?

I don't know what game and how many mods you are trying to run. But 48GB should be plenty. Linus has proven that Chrome dies before you can fill that much RAM.

Okay! Will 5600Hz be enough with that GPU and an Intel I9-13900K?

If you can and you just saved a lot of money by not buying 96GB. Better take a bit faster RAM with good timings. Just to futureproof a bit. The GPU won't really tax the RAM that hard as far as I am aware, but there will be minute differences in the handeling of things with faster speed. And hey based on what you're telling us, that's what you're aiming for. 6400 would be my suggestion.

Chrome can definitely use more than that without dying

If you're just gaming there's absolutely no reason you'd need 96GB of RAM, and frankly even 48GB is quite a bit.

As others have said I'd aim for higher speed RAM, definitely not more of it.

@Stooormyboi Seems I was mistaken and you need more RAM. You still couldn't run chrome in it's full potential.

I'd be weary of going 48 or 96 gb. This tells me you're going to be mixing a 32 and a 16 gb kit or a 64 and a 32 kit. DDR5 IMCs struggle to have 4 sticks of the same kit of ram right now. I wouldn't do a flex set up for ddr5 yet. I'd stick to 32 or 64 gb with 2x16 or 2x32 sticks.

Doubt any "normal" game will need 48GB, but if you run mods there is no limit. I accidentally used all 64GB in my system when I installed too many assets in Cities Skylines. Outside that, 32GB is plenty.

24GB modules exist now. Agree that 4 sticks may limit speeds.

 

Edit: for OP, 2x32GB might be the best balance of capacity and performance.

Probably would just do 48GB myself, but since both kits are the same speed and intel memory controller can do it. go have fun with 96gb if your heart is set on it. I dont know what situation you would have that you need it if you are asking, but you can explore some.

I am not mixing anything, both of them are 2 sticks.
