As all the other posts, just use a dvi to vga adapter (the are usually included with graphics cards). AMD's latest R9 and R7 series of cards does however not support vga.

DVI-Dsub but make sure you plug it into the DVI-I port on your card, it's likely only one of them will support it.

You will be just fine then.

And a dvi to vga adapter won't change your performance, as the only thing it does is to change the connector.

dvi-d is dual link dvi, and is used for high resolution dispalys, as they require more bandwidth to be able to have such a large picture, at an high refresh rate (a 1080p monitor will require dvi-d to run at 120hz).

dvi-i is analog dvi and uses the same signal as vga, so you can use an adaptor to change the connector to vga. The first dvi port on the graphics card is often the one you should use and it is often labelled on them.

its gonna suck bothways, just, pick your favorite poison. dvi is rather secure with the side screws.

vga isn't that bad... The colours aren't as good as with a digital signal, but if you have a good cable, then it's not really that bad. Just be sure to not use any of the very thin vga cables (the once who come included with the monitors).

what different between dvi-i and other dvi?

Basically this,

DVI-D is a DVI port that supports DVI and DVI-Dual Link.

DVI-I is a DVI port that supports DVI/DVI-D and also the ablilty to support DVI-VGA adapters.
