Which OS should I use for my old laptop?

So get on your bicycle, as a friend of mine used to, and ride  across it (London not Londen) and beat all of the buses and cars. Get a bit of exercise at the same time. Keep the "Planet Green" people happy too.

Have no clue why people would ever recommend windows for a machine of this tier.

 

Use a lightweight linux distro like Antix or puppy. Web browsing is still going to be slow, but it'll be a usable machine.
