Tip for Asus motherboards cycling RGB on shutdown

An0maly_76

Intermittently, the RGB on my Asus Tuf B550-PLUS and Asus KO-RTX-3060ti rainbow-cycles after shutdown or during sleep mode. Some may like this sort of thing, but autism-related sensory issues make it annoying to me. However, I found a solution last night for anyone who'd like to disable this. In BIOS, select Advanced --> APM configuration --> ErP ready --> Enable --> S4+S5. It appears to be a standby mode setting. It only seem to work on shutdown though, not sleep.

I don't badmouth others' input, I'd appreciate others not badmouthing mine. *** More below ***

I disable all the hybrid sleep options, hibernation, fast boot etc. When i turn off my PC I like it to turn off. I even added a power switchto my socket so that i no longer have to unplug my power strip. No power - no lights, power draw or dangers.

Don't most power strips have a switch though? Mine do.

In my case, on Asus Prime Z370, LED strip that goes along the RAM is permanently off now, even after system is up and running

My surge protector does too, but it's behind my desk mounted on the wall, so it's not convenient accessing it.

The wall socket is just above my monitor. XD

That's weird. Does Armoury Crate support your board? Maybe it can solve that.

Yeah I forgot that stupid piece of software existed. I have all of the lighting controlled through Corsair iCUE because I have lighting node, and it controls mobo AND my RTX3090 lighting all in one place.

After re-enabling the motherboard RGB through Armoury Crate it works as intended. Completely shuts off everything when system powers down. And everything works in iCUE as before.

Thanks for a great tip btw.

Yeah, I have a Commander Core XT myself. For five of six fans and the hub of the sixth, I use temp monitor, with the outer of the center front indicating audio signal level. For some weird reason, when iCUE switches from hardware lighting, everything goes dark except for the center front's outer ring for a moment, then returns. *shrugs*. Annoying, but I'm not sure I can do anything about it.

Corsair software in general has been a wild ride for me. Before that is was another soft that had a ton of bugs. Then iCUE came along and its still bugged.

I have Commander Pro with 5 BQ Silent wing fans connected to it. But for whatever odd reason, the software refuses to monitor CPU or GPU temperatures until I manually enable CPUidWrapper64.dll. Has been like that for ages. I just have it pinned in the taskbard, so whenever I start gaming or putting some load on the system, I turn it on so that fans won't roast my system.

As for the lighting, thankfully I enjoy plain white. So settings everything to a solid colour and nothing else is easy enough. Does look classy thoughimage.thumb.jpeg.018152da41b7767607ee795dec30ef70.jpeg

This shit happens to my fukkin HTPC every couple hours. So distracting.

Yeah, when the new one came out, I had similar issues and reverted back to 4.28.174.

Does this fix it? I'm guessing this probably is not just an Asus thing, I just found it to be of particular issue with my Asus board.

I've done *some* fiddling but haven't been able to get it fixed. At this point I am guessing that there's just some firmware bug and it's never gonna get fixed. I do have some Black 2.0 which I've considered using to cover the LEDs but for now I've just decided to have it be a lightning rod for my moods.

So Armoury Crate's Dark setting and the BIOS standby setting don't work with your board?
