Entire new setup needs new speakers

Divinelysian

Hello there.  TL;DR on bottom

I finished my setup and now have a new top of the line PC, a new monitor, new keyboard and mouse, and a new mousepad and webcam.

Everything except speakers. I currently have the Trust Tytan 2.1 and I'm not sure if it is good. The sound for me is fine to be honest, it gets loud, lotsa base, and I like the sound.

But, I'm not experienced with audio. I thought my previous monitor was fine but now I have the G9 Neo and it's a huge improvement over my old one and wouldnt want that anymore.

So although these speakers are fine, it might be that new speakers just sound WAY better and I just dont know it (ignorance is bliss and all that).

So, any suggestions on a new speaker? I checked some review sites, but tbh I prefer the opinion of people actually having them for longer than a few days.

I saw the intel extreme tech upgrade and they use CR3-XBT 3",  some review website says logitech z407

Budget is basically as cheap as possible but Im willing to pay more for better results.  So, if a $200 is twice as good as something for $150, I dont mind paying it.  But I dont pay $500 for something thats like 15% better than $250.

I don't care about the brand or how it looks. I dont have audio shops near me where I can test it.

Thank you so much.

TL;DR.  Current speakers Trust Tyran 2.1, should a get a new set? (these sound fine to me, but I may be missing out and not knowing it), reasonable budget but doesnt need to be 1k+ xD

I would look into some powered monitors because buying speakers and an amp becomes prohibitive.  I wouldn't suggest logitech as a general rule of thumb, I have long since moved away from "PC" branded products and never looked back.  Maybe there are some good ones but I would find someone that isn't trying to shoe horn speakers into a line up, rather someone that makes audio equipment.

I also used to think that speakers were king but have since found that headphones are my jam because I can relatively afford multiple items and change it up, whereas a speaker setup not only takes up more space but is a larger investment.  I just enjoy the ability to swap this or that to get a different experience from one week or month to the next.

But all of that is just my personal take on audio as a hobby.  What I have learned is that once you reach a certain threshold one product isn't going to be immensely better than another given similar price ranges.  With the caveat of avoiding brands that do it as a side gig. (just my $.02)

But you are right, once you have an audio setup you adjust to it as the new normal regardless of the cost.  So maybe you could get some headphones to tickle that funny bone and if it turns out they are way better than your speakers perhaps look back at focusing your wallet on speakers again?  I can't recommend the Rode NTH-100 enough.... the biggest selling point to me is that it is "opaque" (opposite of transparent) to what is driving it so there is no requirement for the added expense of the dac and amp.  They sound good with onboard.

I'm with Psi, go for used studio monitors, usually you'll be able to find a decent set well under a hundred bucks and they will be miles better than anything branded by a consumer computing company.

Thank you for your comments 🙂

@Psittac

I have a big head and I feel most headphones kinda clamp down on me, they also get warm and uncomfortable. I have VOID PRO RGB, and sennheiser momentum 3 headphones, which sound nice, but I rather get new speakers 🙂

@The Flying Sloth

Sadly I live in a country where they think "used" means asking brand new price minus 5%.

The only studio monitors on FB marketplace are being sold for 1000 USD. 7 year old speakers, no longer produced, original MSRP was 699.

Fair enough, in that case building your own may be a decent option, other than my studio monitors all the speakers I use on the daily are custom.
