2 x Samsung 990 Pro 1TB in RAID0

TomSerious

Hello!

I will be setting up my new PC soon and wanted to know, what would be the best slots to put my M.2 SSDs in?

There are 4 Slots and I want to put 2 SSDs in RAID0 🙂

In run it like this now as well but just put them in random slots on my z690 board, the new one will be z790.

Thanks in advance!

Raid 0 for what purpose.

Keep in mind its not a flat performance increase it also can decrease performance depending on tasks or literally do nothing but add extra risk for dataloss

There's virtually no reason to RAID NVMe drives. They are plenty fast on their own and their speed is extremely unlikely to be the bottleneck of your build. Since drives connected to the chipset have to go through its lanes connected to the CPU, you might not even see a speedup at all, since they'll be limited by the chipset's overall bandwidth.

Okay good to know, thanks!

Well I have 2 x 1TB drives and only want to have one "main" volume

I could try and exchange it for 1 x 2TB I guess?

You can put them in RAID 0 to have the storage effectively combined, if you like.

Peronsally I prefer to keep things like this seperate and just put in a little more effort to manage where i'm storing games. But you do you!

Just be certain you have a good backup regime if you would be sad at your now doubled chance of data loss.

You can "span" a volume in windows and it will do the same technically
