Looking for a good cheap monitor

tg890tg

Hi. I’ve been looking online for gaming monitors to go with my PC. Unfortunately, any YouTube recommendation video that I watch recommends monitors that do not fit my requirements. Here is the list of my requirements in a monitor:

Nvidia G-Sync (I have a GTX 1660 Super)

At least 144hz (165 would be great)

Up to 1 ms response time

IPS Panel

At least 24 inches, but the bigger the better

Under $200 USD including shipping pre-tax (I have Amazon Prime)

I don’t care too much about resolution, but I would pay an extra $20-30 for 1440p if that’s an option.

Searching on Amazon, it appears that FreeSync monitors are much cheaper than G-Sync ones. Is that because AMD sells licenses for cheaper or something like that? I really want a good monitor because I plan to use it for a while, but I don’t want to break the bank. Currently, I have my sights set on an Acer Nitro: https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Lvbmiipx-Agile-Splendor-Monitor-Compatible/dp/B09WZC4FJS/ref=sr_1_1?crid=377MQWTGD82PU&keywords=acer%2Bnitro%2Bvg272&qid=1668034771&s=electronics&sprefix=acer%2Bnitro%2Bvg272%2Celectronics%2C281&sr=1-1&ufe=app_do%3Aamzn1.fos.f5122f16-c3e8-4386-bf32-63e904010ad0&th=1

I haven’t seen any recommendations for this on YouTube, which makes me worry it may be mediocre or even bad. Could I please have some thoughts on this monitor? And if it’s not as good as I thought, could I please have some other recommendations? I’m willing to go up to $230 if I really have to for a good one. Like I said, I’m planning on using it for at least 3-4 years. Thank you!

If you wanna go 1080p then get a 24".  If you wanna go 27" get a 1440p. 1080p at 27" will start to look bad due to the pixel density. I mean it's not too noticeable usually, but when reading small text or getting close to the monitor, it can definitely be seen.

Please mark as solved if I answered your question.

27 inch 1080p will constantly look just a little too blurry not to notice due to the low pixel density.

Id opt for a 24 inch screen or 1440p 27

Try this filter and check reviews of them.

https://pcpartpicker.com/products/monitor/#F=594360000,1651000000&r=192001080&D=144000,390000&sort=price&P=2&A=2,5&G=100000000000,1000000000000&X=0,20000

Anyway, actual G-sync monitors are expensive, G-sync still works with freesync that are g-sync compatible anyway. So you don't have to buy g-sync monitors, to enable g-sync.

Also, until you try them yourselves, don't just agree that 1080p in 27 inch is bad, I have it, AOC 27G2, it looks fine. I also have 1440p 32 inch, Odyssey G50A S32.

Only after you are accustomed to higher resolutions, only then you see anything in 1080p is a blurry mess.

IMHO, the budget-conscious buyer looking at 1080p monitors should be sticking to the used market.  Better to live with 1080p/ 60hz that you can get for piss cheap--than to buy something of mediocre performance that costs 4-5x as much, and then still be looking for a monitor upgrade in a couple of years.
