Should I upgrade to an AIO?

Excepsi

Hello, I am currently thinking of upgrading to an AIO. I am thinking of buying a Ryzen 7 7700x and currently have a Noctua NH-u14S. Will this air cooler be enough? I have a ENTHOO EVOLV ATX GLASS case and will be buying 6 120mm fans.

PC SPECS:

CPU: Ryzen 5 2600x

GPU: RTX 2060 XC Ultra

RAM: 16GB Corsair Vengance LPX DDR4 2400

MotherBoard: Gigabyte X470 Ultra Gaming

PSU; EVGA SuperNova 850W G2

COOLER: Noctua nh-u14s

Honestly, as great as that cooler is you'd probably run into thermal issues. A double-stack cooler such as the Noctua NH-D15 on the other hand should cool it very well, especially given you're focusing so heavily on airflow. In this kind of situation an AIO can actually have lower cooling performance compared to an air cooler. Granted, the NH-D15 is a big lad so if you're space limited an AIO can work great. Personally though, I stick with air cooling. You'll want to double check mounting compatibility though, I believe AM5 is going to require new mounting hardware.

Don't forget to mark posts as the solution if you're satisfied!

Your U14 will do fine, but an AIO + some PBO tuning will put you in a better spot for sure.

I have seen that AIO only have a life span of like 3 years because of the liquid evaporating.

Id keep the nh-u14s for now, then upgrade ltaer if you need to. The extra cooling of a aio won't make any noticable performance differences.

Also I put 2 fans on my u14s should I remove the other one?

That seems to be a pretty low estimate. I hve seen a good amount of aios, and they basically all make it paste 3 years.

If you got 2 fans, Id keep them. I don't see a reason to remove one.

I am thinking of just upgrading to a new PC. Hoping I can build a decent 1440p Gaming PC at 2.5k

AK620 on a 7900x here, you don't need an AIO.

I see I will just stay with my u14s then

A lot of AIO guys have warmer temps than some air cooled guys. AIO has its place, but they aren’t the top of the line.
