What model 3060? What else is in your PC?

Generally the 3060 recommends 550W.

all 3060 is 12GB. And its not suitable for 4K gaming despite having 12GB Vram

Your 500W is too small.

You're going to need 550W.

4K is 4 times 1080p, not 2

under 50FPS sounds like a winner to me

Sure, DLSS will help, but then you are not actually playing in 4K. DLSS renders the game in a lower resolution(1440, 1080p etc.) and upscales it to 4K

Can your psu actually deliver 500w? Make and model?

Interim 15 T200 OKF("F" intel processors are specifically archituctured for gaming) maybe upgrad to 13'900 | Peeralight cpu fan | Stryx Z690-A Wife(which is branded by ASUS and it's ROG label) | Thermotake 16x 8x2GO SODINM 2400mjz cl22 (2 of them with the mood lighting) | 980 EVO 1TB m.2 ssd card + Kensington 2TB SATA nvme + WD BLACK PRO ULTRA MAX 4TB GAMING DESTROYER HHD | Echa etc 3060 duel fan dissipator 12 GBi and Azrock with the radian 550 XT Tiachi | NEXT H510 Vit Klar Svart | Seasonice 600watts voeding(rated for 100.000 hours, running since 2010, ballpark estimate 8 hours a day which should make it good for 34 years) | Nocturna case fans | 0LED Duel moniter

New build in progress: Ryen™ 8 7700x3D with a copper pipe fan | Z60e-A | Kingstron RENEGATE 16x2 Go hyenix | Phantek 2 the thar mesh in front | lead lex black label psu + AsiaHorse białe/białe | 1080 Pro 8TB 15800MB/S NvMe(for gaming this increase fps and charging time, cooled by a M.2 slot with coolblock and additional thermopad) and faster 4000GB HHD | MAI GeForce GTX 2070 Ti and RTX 6800 | Corshair psu

What 500w psu is it? Make and model

4k is 4x the pixel of 1080p. 4k medium 60 is achievable but thats about it.

Sure, I just dont get the logic here. Its like building a really fancy double garage to only using it for a Nissan Micra.

The 3060 is a excellent card for 1080p and its good in 1440p, but I wouldn't buy it if the argument its for 4K gaming. For that I would at least save up for a 3070 class card, dont be deceived by the 12 GB of VRAM

A generalization. What games will you be playing?

Also what make and model of psu is it.

Evga 500w means nothing as they have quite bad psus like the w1 which wont handle a 3060 well

Sometimes...it's hard for people to understand where they can find that.

1) At best minor stuttering, freezes, glitches, crashes, BSODs and boot up problems.
2) At worst damage to psu, ram, mobo and gpu (been there).

Things listed in 1) may happen after few weeks of seemingly normal performance, but since you want to just dive into demanding gaming your psu will have to work under full load and still will not meet minimal requirements. In my, budget and tested, opinion it is far better to buy cheaper but more powerful psu (ie: 700-1000W) and have plenty of room and utilize unit at 60% then having high end one and barely having any room, ie recommended 550W psu. I'd totally go for 700W or bigger unit.

Check your supply against the tier list. If its decent quality, then simply try it.

A good PSU, if overloaded, will shut down gracefully.

I run a CX550M with a 3060Ti and overclocked 4930k with zero issues.

Yeah, and 1660 TI would run on 350W, I got 6600XT and am on 700W psu having 100W of room. Like I said, for 3060 I'd go for 700-1000W psu

This is just the usual nonsense that gets perpetuated around PSUs. A 1660TI draws around 120w. The 3060 draws around 170.

So if a 1660ti is happy on a 350w PSU, why would a card that draws 50w more suddenly require a 700w unit?

A 3060 is not a power hungry card and 500w is plenty, so long as its a quality 500w unit and not trash tier.

If you put a 1080TI in that machine, you won't be happy with 4K experience.

4K/60 at low/medium isn't near as fun to play a game as 1440p/60 High or 1080p/120 Ultra.

4K doesn't mean shit, but they are successfully brainwashing folks it seems.
