80/20 And zipf

Wictorian

Do you think these phenomena are interesting and mysterious? I don’t think so at all because the numbers get rounded.

what does zipf's law have to do with numbers being rounded?

IMO you might want to add some context as to what 80/20 and "zipf" mean, and why you want to discuss it.

On topic: From my very basic research, this seems to be talking about the "Pareto Principle". Has there been any research that actually confirms whether the 80/20 rule applies, and how accurate/frequently does it match up?

I cannot imagine that it actually applies to every situation, so the question becomes, how frequently does it apply? And, when it does, is that simply coincidence? I don't ascribe any mystical meaning to it.

It pretty much applies. Just it’s not 80/20 but 70/30 or 85/15

the only 80/20 i know about is aluminum extrusions and they are awesome and like an erector set for adults.

Pretty sure this is not what you mean but when you post crap every day with a confusing title and nothing in the OP you're a moron

It "pretty much" applies, is pretty vague and unspecific.

How much of the time does it apply? What specifically does it apply to? How many things does it not apply to?

Why would most people know about this‽ It looks like she sort of advanced calculus or trig, I dono but some sort of super advanced mathematics for sure.

I've got 125 hr of college and never came across this kind of crazy math. So unless you're doing some engineering or something when TF would this come up?

I'll stick with 80/20 aluminum 😎😂

Man I read that and I still can't make heads or tails of it. All I see is weird math equations that are like reading Greek.

It’s not crazy math..

It says, 80 percent of the result comes from 20 percent of the effort.

80 percent of wealth belongs to 20 percent of population.

80 percent of Canada live in 20 percent of the country. It is easy to arrange this. I think you can imagine how. If not I can eloborate.

What is the connection between these three things?

Corps aren't your friends. "Bottleneck calculators" are BS. Only suckers buy based on brand. It's your PC, do what makes you happy.  If your build meets your needs, you don't need anyone else to "rate" it for you. And talking about being part of a "master race" is cringe. Watch this space for further truths people need to hear.

The numbers 80 and 20. There are no hard facts that back it up though. It's just something people say.

What does this have to do with Zipf's law, though?
