Moving to AMD has been a nightmare!

Hello community!

I just changed to AMD graphics card coming from NVIDIA. The process has really being stressful for me as I have faced a lot issues with this new graphics card...

I bought the Radeon RX 6750 XT from Gigabyte to put it into my rig which contains:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600G
MOBO: MSI B550 PRO
RAM: 16 GB Ram DDR4
Storage : 1 TB M2 y 500 SSD

PSU: 700W Gigabyte GP-B700H Power Supply, ATX, 12V, SLI CrossFire, 700W

2 monitors:

LG 27GP750-B Gaming Monitor 27" IPS FHD 240Hz 1ms G-Sync Compatible, FreeSync HDMI, D-Sub USB3.0 1U/2D
SAMSUNG 27"  FHD 1920x1080 FreeSync, Eco Saving Plus, Flicker Free, 1x HDMI 1.4, 1x D-sub, 4ms(GTG), Dark Blue Gray LC27R500FHLXZX

I re-formated the PC so I would not have any issues...At first I thought this was going to be a clean installation with no suffering. But surprise! I was completely wrong.

  1. The screen sometimes crashes and goes completely dark. After sometime it recovers saying the driver crashed.
  2. Screen freezes or goes black when trying to change windows with ALT+ TAB and it is impossible do something, so a reset is required.
  3. Screen flashes and suddenly becomes 1280x720 (without a driver installed) probably means it crashed too.
  4. When playing games the hotspot temp gets as high as 100-102°C - I spoke to Gigabyte about this and they said is normal...

I'd like to If someone has a similar setup or faced the same issues, please let me know how do you fixed it, I'd preciate it.

What monitor? This could also be finicky display cable. NVIDIA handles that better than AMD when you get signal interruptions.

Update your board's bios.

Unplug the Samsung monitor.

Run DDU, reinstall drivers.

No problems? Plug in the LG display.

No problems? Relax and enjoy.

Still have issues?

Swap the cables. Are you using DP for both, or mixing HDMI/DP?

Update: Issue is still present. However I dont know what it is. Computer just Froze. (Similar to when screen crashes and becomes black) I was running batman Arkham Knight on the menu + OBS trying to stream it and it simply froze forever. I had to restart. So we can assume it was not under a high load. Coincidence?

You may need to try out the WHQL drivers from May.(22.5.1) Those are the official "stable drivers". What you're experiencing I've seen has been happening to a lot of folks who are using the "Optiona" Beta drivers, unfortunately.

Leonidas Specs: Ryzen 7 5800X3D | AMD 6800 XT Midnight Black | MSI B550 Gaming Plus | Corsair Dominator CL16 3200 MHz  4x8 32GB | be quiet! Silent Base 802

Maximus Specs: Ryzen 7 3700x | AMD 6700 XT Power Color Fighter | Asrock B550M-Itx/AC | Corsair Vengeance CL 16 3200 MHz 2x8 16 GB | Fractal Ridge Case (HTPC)

pull one ram stick out and run it with 1 stick of ram. try each stick alone in the machine. see if that results in more stability.

It seems to be working fine after some days. What I did was 1 output to main monitor and the other one to the integrated graphics card.

Issues are gone I think. Thanks for the support!

  • 4 weeks later...

Bump, its still a nightmare.

I have updated every component and software and its just bad.

I noticed that on amazon the card has awful reviews too. So I guess it was a bad choice..
