1080 ti for 235 USD

ZoharN

I was browsing a local 2nd hand site and found a 1080 ti going for 310 USD (using usd as a universal currency) I immediately clicked on that listing since I knew that could be a good price as I read through the listing I noticed that the person was willing to trade in a 1050 ti to lower the price to 235 USD (I currently have a 1050 ti) hence the title

Now I was wondering if that is worth my time because this person does live like 2 hours away from me

Considering a 1080Ti is quite comparable to a 3060 that go for roughly the same price new now and the 1080Ti 5 years old at this point... yea I would pass.

It's a good trade if you can verify the card is good before buying

Might not be true for OP's region, @ZoharNhow much would a modern generation card cost you

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

A 6600xt is 300$ brand new and faster. So I wouldn't go for it. Then sell the 1050ti.

The lowest I can get a new 6600xt is for 440 USD

i completely agree with @Fasauceome, if you can verify that it's working and want the 1080ti, go for it.

given the local pricing you've given i think it's fair if you can verify the card works, keep in mind that it's 5-6years old at this point

I see

I am aware to the age of the card but the card it will be replacing is as old as it and much less powerful

Sounds like a good deal, but I've been told that it's not recommended to buy the GTX 1000 Pascal series anymore. They're getting outdated by the second.

A year ago that would've been a great deal, but many people try to get rid of them. Then they're also used for years. Maybe the thermal paste can be dried up, sometimes the fans die, but those can be easily replaced. Still, the 1080 Ti was a great card with the 11GB RAM. I ever was close to a $1000 back then.

Where are you from by the way? If it's harder/expensive to get GPUs there, then it could be worth it. For example GPUs right now are cheaper in USA than Europe in comparison.

If you do for it though, make sure to stress test it with Furmark. The price is fair, but it's safer and future proof to get a recent card instead.

And like people say, when the new gen releases, you could have a better card for less money in general.
