how bout them net neutrality guizzz (a ISP story that i made up)

so as we all may have heard the sad news that the idiots at the so called FCC have pulled in the last couple of days about net neutrality, what do you guys think will be happening in the next few months and years since there is nothing protecting the internet now. i heard netflix will be increasing prices because of the BS the isp's have caused them. and my youtube has been slower now specially when watching 1080p and 4k. w/ a constant 55 down connection. and just a general decline in loading of websites like netflix and others. do you guys think there will be a new rule for a free internet?, or is it just going to be a downward spiral to the point where we reach internet that is practically censored in a way(having fast and slow lanes) and the way australian internet is where you pay major bucks for not that much.

Space Journal #1: So Apparently i  was dropped on the moon like i'm a mars rover, in a matter of hours i have found the transformers on the dark side of the moon. Turns out its not that dark since dem robots are filled with lights, i waved hi to the Russians on the space station, turns out all those stories about space finding humans instead of the other way around is true(soviet Russia joke). They threw me some Heineken beer and I've been sitting staring at the people of this forum and earth since.

I wish that GabeN would smite the ISPs for their insolence.

 

i just wish Google would dump billions into getting fiber everywhere :(

Wow, I'm living on a 10M/b down connection. It hurts. I watch YouTube in 360p :D

 

You should just leave America, American ISPs sound garbage and it sounds like there is almost no competition.

That's my speedtest using my ISP specific one. Which you'd expect to be biased or something to make it seem like I'm getting what I pay for. It isn't. That's what I actually get. And I pay $45 a month for 10/3.

The thing is, I can watch Youtube 1080p videos without buffering. What is your problem? I guess since you live in Australia, Youtube's cache servers aren't that great there or something. I dunno. But I don't think it's specifically your internet speed.

there actually is no competition.ill tell you the story..... once upon a time... there once used to be these 4 isps who were all sibliings and their two parents are Level 3 and cogent(tier 1 networks) the 4 siblings((major isps) AT&T, Verizon, Comcast, and time warner) were all given their own separate rooms in the house(America) even though they could play together in each others rooms(network overlaps across U.S) they usually mind their own business(no competition) one day comcast got into a fight w/ time warner, now that these children(isps) arent so young anymore they were pretty big and strong. comcast beat the shheeezzz out of time warner and killedem to death(comcast bought time warner) comcast was the oldest and biggest meech out of the siblings, the police came over to comcasts house(FCC,) but as we all know there are some big money whores in the government. comcast had gotten free from penelty. now that comcast took over half the house they could practically do whatever they wanted. comcast and verizon always bullied this kid(NETFLIX) now netflix was a pretty big deal. netflix's dad owned a delivery service where people can get movies for as long as they want. the 4 isp's parents owned UPS. NETFLIX needed UPS in order to send movies to customers. the isps hassled netflix to cough up money in order to get better delivery quality to customers. at first netflix resisted becuase netflix knows that you need to stand up to bullies. but they had caved in, netflix had to pay for "special" trucks that would deliver service to its customers. this has costed netflix a fortune and now the customer is the end user who will have to pay for it soon. while all this is going on YouTube's dad(google) is tired of all of this BS in the neighborhood. since google had gotten so much banks from electronic mail delivery system they had implemented back in 1996, they start up their own service where they dont rely on UPS(isps) to give better quality service to their customers(Google Fiber). now that i have run out of what to continue this story w/ i will end it here. 

 

i hope this was a good summary of the isps in america. i made this story up as i went along .

I think it's just my internet like my router is a P.o.S. Uni loads fine, my mates house down the road is fine. But still, it's so frustrating to find that I get better quality and less buffering on my iPhone on youtube

Sounds about right. In Australia there are 3 distinct networks (with 2 more being built, both fibre), owned by different ISPs. They are everywhere, so unless you live in the desert where only one ISP will reach you, there is good competition.

that the problem, even whit all the money google has (counting both profit and revenue) is not enough to get all continental US to have FTTP connections, maybe the will do it but its going to take a long while :(

though where i live, shit is worst currently on 2mb/356kb, its so annoying to have to wait so long to download a game, especially when they pull shit like the sound files in titanfall >.<, also the super low upload fucks up the whole thing if 2 computer are browsing at the same time -________-
