Floatplane background play when?

Is there any updated plans to have background play on the Android Floatplane app? Thats the biggest holdbacks in me subscribing to more people on Floatplane especially Level1Techs for their podcasts. Its a complete pain if I want to background play something from Floatplane. I have to download it on desktop (10+minutes for 360p, not that im complaining about the high quality but I only need audio) then transfer it to my phone. 

 

Unfortunately because of that I'm still stuck using Patreon.

I didn't want to send them an email and waste their time if the question had already been asked hundreds of times.

But since there's no other answers ill shoot them an email.

Thats the best way to let them know its something users want. While the dev team has presence on forums, there's no place for tracking requests etc. So nobody outside the dev team knows anything.

Update! 

Received a prompt response back from Joe with support informing me that background play is very near release.

"...99% complete and will be added in one of the next updates"

 

I shall wait with bated breath!
