How does this build look?

Hexitus

You're missing a lot of information, like your budget, what you plan to to with the system, what games you play, what monitor its hooked up to, etc etc.

For example, some things of immediate note:

  • It's highly unlikely you need 64GB of RAM; more RAM doesn't help anything, it's a waste of money.
  • You don't have an SSD. An HDD as a primary drive in 2022 is, frankly, ridiculous.
  • Personally if I was getting a 3080 or higher card I'd be looking at 1000w or higher PSUs.

What kind of SSD do you suggest? and is the Part picker estimated wattage not accurate?

From my understanding, the 12th Gen i7 and i9 preform relatively the same if your just going to game. I'm going to assume that's the case. So I would just save $200 and get the i7.

Please don't get 64gbs of ram, you wont need it. Save the money and put it towards other parts! 32gb seems to be the standard right now (For DDR5).

Buy an SSD for the operating system. I have a an HDD for bulk storage, but my next build wont have one. SSDs are so cheap now, you might as well take that money you'll save on ram and buy one.

That case is pushing three years old, I'd recommend something new an more affordable. That's just my preference, but it looks outdated in my opinion. If you like it, buy it. Same for the cooler, don't know much about it. I personally don't trust brands like ASUS or MSI with coolers. Also, if I recall correctly, that cooler was recalled by MSI.

Good start, I'll put together a list!

No idea, you didn't answer any of the questions put forth.

PCPartPicker only goes by the listed wattage, it doesn't account for power draw over that, or the spikes in power draw that the higher end 3000 series cards can see.

For gaming, there is little (if any) benefit going beyond i5, 12400 specifically.

DDR5 is not a thing atm, even for workstations it is questionable. For gaming it is out of the equation.
