Stuttering In Games After Hardware Upgrades

TikPandora

CPU: Ryzen 5 3600

MoBo: MSI Mag A520m Vector Wi-Fi

GPU: Sapphire Pulse Radeon RX 6600 (8GB)

RAM: 32 GB XPG Gammix D20 at 3600 mHz

Boot Drive: 500 GB SK Hynix Gold NVME

Storage Drive: 1 TB SK Hynix Gold Sata SSD

PSU: EVGA GT 650W Gold

Hello there! I wanted to try and figure out the issue by myself but I'm at the end of my rope here. I did quite a bit of hardware upgrading the other day including a new motherboard, new RAM, new PSU, and a new GPU. Ever since then I've been getting these little frame-skip like stutters in 3D games and benchmarks. Temps seem fine never above 75°, but they seem to happen nevertheless. I'm unsure of if I experienced them on my old hardware or not since I never really cared. It almost feels like the games are loading things in.

I've tried quite a few things. I used DDU to remove the old drivers before installing the new card. I changed the PCI setting on my motherboard from Auto to 3. I've enabled Freesync on my monitor and in the driver software. I've updated the driver software (even though it likes to give me installation errors). I've tried various settings. Pretty much everything I can think of.

I spent a lot on the upgrades to this build, so any tips or tricks would be intensely helpful.

I upgraded from a 1650 Super to a RX 6600. I haven't fresh installed yet but I plan on doing it.

are you able to narrow down if its maybe CPU/GPU related? perhaps try running 3dmark and look if it lags more on cpu or gpu tests

maybe that can help

Make sure your RAM is running at the correct speed since you replaced the motherboard.

What games are you playing when you get the stutters? Is there something in particular in game that triggers them (like certain levels or pefroming certain actions) or is it random?

one other thing i was thinking of: maybe its because your cpu only supports up to 3200mhz ram?
if you have XMP enabled maybe thats causing it?

You upgraded your mobo to a A520 ? What did you have before ?

Some A520 boards arent very good, why didn't you get a B550 ??

maybe you need to download DDU and uninstall the Gpu drivers in safe mode with network

It's pretty much every game I've tried, though I've only tried a few to be perfectly honest.

I can try 3D Mark and changing my RAM speed once I get off work later. If it was something simple that would make my world a heck of a lot easier.

And it's actually the same motherboard I had before but it was replaced under warranty.

As for the PSU cables, I've already checked and reseated them.

it shouldnt be too hard since you just swapped some components, we just have to figure out what component is causing the issue. Because of timezones i probably wont be able to reply anymore for a bit

First thing I should try though is a fresh new Windows install methinks. It's been acting really squirrely lately.

Well, I decided to just order a B550 motherboard and I'm going to see if I can sell the A520.

When that gets here I'll swap it out and reinstall windows and see if that fixes any issues.
