Designing a mainly tech-centered website... How am I doing?

flibberdipper

It's about time I get my own site going, and in some ways it will be kinda like big status updates. I would love to know how I am doing with it so far (trying to lay it out well on a 1024x768 monitor is a pain in the butt), and I would really like some feedback on how it's coming so far. I could really use some help coming up with a really good title, since the current one sucks (keep it kinda-professional, guys).

I like the color scheme, but the font is very lack luster and I think clashes a lot with the forest image and... Though it's a minimalist font, I think it really takes away a lot of potential from the site. Maybe if it was either smaller or an entirely different font. Not on the menu tabs, but on the site title. And just a personal taste statement, that's a lot of different texture layers for the BG, lol.

But the overall minimalist design is something I can appreciate a lot. It's very peaceful looking. I like the direction you're going in for a personal site.

good job, really like it. the only thing I'd change is the standard looking font of the headings.

I plan on changing or removing all of the stock pictures. I might change the fonts later on down the road, but I'm not entirely sure.

You're using Weebly... At least be decent and use Square Space? From the eyes of a web developer, it's much better.

Weebly is free, and since I'm a high schooler with no job or anything...

IMHO it looks kind of dated and older. If you went with a more clean lines and no textures I think it would look way more professional. But then again, this is what I like in a website and is not necessarily true for everyone.

Nice website, and PC:

mmmmmm

I think I got all of the images changed to one that doesn't look as goofy.

I'll probably look at themes some more a little later on, but for now this one works.

But... But... Simplicity!!! And there's blue!!!

Looks awesome man, I plan to do something along these lines in the future as well. If I could change one thing it would be the amount of black and grey and the textures/patterns used for the background. Other than that. Awesome!

Thanks! I kinda would like to stick to a darker theme, but the textures and backgrounds do drive me kinda nuts too.

The land of T-Man (working title)

I just looked at it and see you have used a website builder / editing tool to make it, these make it easyier for people however to do one from scratch in HTML is way more difficult and takes a lot of time, but you can customise it more manually.

things i would make bigger would be the utube link / logo.

add abit more constast as lots of greys and dark colours are harder to read.

add "alt" & "title" attribute in the code so when you hover over the navigation / links or pictures a pop up will tell you also what it is (designed so blind people can read your website) no kidding.

add google analytics code into each page.

make sure it works with smaller monitors as not everyone has large monitors, and you can add whats called white space to each side and center it or justify left or right.

overall pretty good, if you have chance there are basic HTML code learning books and it will help everyone if everyone knows the raw code or more.

good job...

got to love Asus components

Looks ok and functions well. The website's name could do with a change, The Land Of T-Man sounds like a XXX movie when they do not want you to know it is a XXX movie. How about Technological Resource.com or something like that. You could also put a contribute/tutorial page where members could post tutorials. I guess you could add that in the videos page so when you go to the videos page you can go on either just your YouTube channel or tutorials. The color background should be a choice and not the standard color as the dark colors are synonymous with porn sites.

I'll start off with the small resolution thing. I'm doing most of the designing on either a 1024x768 monitor, or my netbook with a 1024x600 monitor, so I think that's covered.

As for the YouTube link, I don't believe I can make it bigger, but I did put a button that will lead you to my channel on the Videos tab.

I might change the theme later, but I'll have to do it this weekend when I have access to a higher resolution monitor that I can see more themes on.

lol That's just a random title I put in so that it would actually have a title. There is no way in hell I'll keep that name. I'll have to think about the tutorial stuff, but nothing is definate at this point.

I really like the simple look.. I like any website with a simple look hence why I love how they designed google.

Are you going into web development?

Good job fella! Keep it up!

I think the main thing might be that he doesn't want to pay. I would love to use Square Space, but just don't have the cash right now.

Weebly is easy to use, much more featured than most places, and is free, with only a couple of minor restrictions.

PS, you can make a great-looking site with Weebly.
