First off this software is horrendous, all I want to do is keep the settings that I made for my rgb fans but I soon as I close the app or go back to previous options the colors will change again.  There is no option to save and quit to keep the settings, anyone else have this garbage application?

RGB software is a big part of why I no longer have RGB in any of my computers.
All the different ecosystems. All the different software that you have to have running.

I'm not actually trying to be as grumpy as it seems.

I will find your mentions of Ikea or Gnome and I will /s post.

Horrible compared to software for other things?  Sure!  Sadly though I am told compared to other rgb software iCUE is some of the best there is.  Doesn’t mean it’s good though.  When the used car salesman says “they all do that” this is what they are trying to imply.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.

It's just crap plain and simple, it's not complicated to add a save and exit feature but there will be people out there that will argue this case just for the hell of it.

Nope it will use what ever the default one is as soon as you get to windows.  Even with the factory colors that were set went missing as soon as I installed the application and ran it, and that was before I even touched an option.  I found a trick on it though where you can keep the last setting before you exit out but what a horrible app to use.

I think it has something to do with creating a profile and then you have to select it again in a different menu, it's just a light show and these stupid procedures are taking the fun out of it.

The whole “let’s avoid already created and in place common standards with the goal to screw consumers on the way to making more money even though we almost certainly won’t” thing in RGB just irritates me no end.  They didn’t have to do it that way. It’s every bit as asinine as the USB4 debacle or USB “3.2” inflation.

okey, but u need to tell us, what programs does not do this

What programs?  What ever your rgb settings are when you exit the corsair app those are the ones you will have even after your pc has switched off, when you boot up again those rgb settings will be in place again regardless of what programs you are running un til you open up the ICUE app and figure how to change it to a new one.

I had it all working and compatible. Asus and Corsair. It's just more of a PITA than it's worth IMO.

More software, more wires, more things to go wrong. More things to have compatibility break.

My planning doesn't make profiles savable 😛

Sorry. My planning doesn't make Asus case fans or Corsair motherboards and graphics cards xD

I guess I really should plan better.

Also, Asus does have one case fan, but it's not RGB. I guess I'll just plan to add RGB to that.

I'm complaining about ICUE not saving or making it very difficult to save settings.  IQue does not need to be running for the saved configuration it's just an app to access those settings and adjust them.

Asus aura and iCue are integrated to work together through iCue. Without armory crate always running. So what was the problem with me running Aura for GPU and Motherboard and iCue for everything else?

Having to have iCue open.

I see neither of us are going to get anywhere so I'm backing out of this. I'll be wrong for going away from RGB/Using 2 different companies, then not wrong for using two companies since it doesn't matter who makes it. (Asus doesn't make that fan, it's a rebrand of another fan)

ICUE never needed to happen.  It’s apparently the best of what the corporations felt they wanted to produce and it’s in the great scheme of things still one of the worst pieces of software available.  Corporations can do better. They have done better.  Most of the time.  There is something diseased about the whole approach that has been taken by motherboard makers with rgb.  I’m still not sure if argb is even somewhat standardized or not.  It’s like it’s marketed like it is but actually isn’t. This is almost as bad as the oil companies who are Still not quite as bad as the tobacco companies.  They quite literally killed people for money.  The oil companies killed ecosystems for money.  Rgb didn’t kill anyone.  They just allowed their departments to treat human beings like cattle.  It’s not nearly as bloody, but it’s still kinda sociopathic.  I have great hope for that openrgb thing even though I know basically nothing about it.  The whole market is a system built on deliberate BS, and the thing about stuff like that is it tends to deflate very easily from even small holes.  There are apparently cracks forming.  I heard about adaptors for example which is something that was unheard of when the companies were still merely obfuscating their use of previously set standards.  The entire market seems to be built on fences and roadblocks for consumers.  Herding them.  Ways for things to not connect when the only reason they don’t is someone decided they shouldn’t for their own perceived gain and to the actual defined detriment of basically everyone else.  lack of integration of systems.  If something can integrate them anyway the whole thing could fall apart.  Time heals all though. The CD market was like this for a while.  Now it is basically gone.   Someone will make something actually good which apparently is not iCUE, the computers with forcibly horrid lighting systems will become obsolete, and the people that did the damage will die.  As people always do.  Maybe something good and useful can grow from the arsonist set trash fire that is the computer lighting market.  It’s gonna take time though.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.
