Depends on the game. Some games would be pretty much the exact same, some could have up to a 10% difference inoad times. Hardware unboxed did a comparison between data hard drives and m.2 SSDs a while back and found this difference overall.

Basically, you probably won't notice the difference.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

From my experience, the Samsung T5 is about the same as a Samsung 860 Evo SATA SSD, and the T7 should be faster. While an NVMe SSD is in theory a lot faster, in today's games, you should not see that much of a difference. (This can very well change as devs start to take properly advantage of the PCIe gen 4 SSDs in the new consoles, but it's more than fine for now)

The problem with portable drives is usually not their speed ratings or connection style on the HDD/SDD side.

But its the weak and to slow USB controllers. And most likely this will be your limiting factor.

Altho that limit can be very hard to notice if its quality hardware. 😉

When i ask for more specs, don't expect me to know the answer!
