The reality from me to the manufacturers is simply this.

 

Unless the MSRPs drop back down to the pre 2018 scheme (not necessarily exact price, due to inflation), and retail price goes back down to that MSRP. I will no longer be buying 'new' cards. Its as simple as that.

In fact my current card, a 1080ti, i bought 'used' due to the 20 series pricing of the 2080ti. and the introduction of the current higher MSRP pricing scheme. So i've already started buying used. ill continue to do that further down the line if need be.

 

While i dont expect everyone or even a majority of people to do the same and thus actually affect the retailers and manufacturer bottom line, at least for me i wont have to pay extortionate pricing.

 

Ofc the pricing of used cards needs to be taken into account, but unlike retailers that dont haggle, a used card seller will, and if i cant get a card for the price i deem it worth, i move on till i find it for the right price.

Do what I do. Skip the new AAA titles, and not have to fork over lots of money for a gpu at all (kind of what Anthony alluded to at the end too).

That would be great if true,  but low hash rate hasn't meant much as miners have found ways to get 70% mining performance on LHR cards.

I have a question. Why test Forza Horizon 4 at Medium settings? This game is more than a few years old now, a newer title FH5 exists, plus at 1080p, this card should be able to play it at ultra, if my laptop 1650 can do higher than 60FPS in High settings usually on this game. Seems like a weird choice to me.

Because it's the most cut-down compute-wise card, aka AMD's Maxwell (from Nvidia) moment. The 3GHz clocks (if the cards weren't locked) are consequence of this.

 

That's how AMD caught to Nvidia "out of nowhere" with RDNA 2.0, Nvidia set the precedent of gimping gamer cards for workstation use (in part in preparation due to then unknown tensor and raytracing cores, and for higher clocks), and AMD just copied Nvidia. Intel is gonna do the same.

 

Everything all 3 companies did, do and will do in the near to medium future is in preparation for insane TDP compute-lite Multi chip dies with massive caches and innovative "glue" connecting them. While there's FPGA-like, and ARM/Mobile SoC style non-rasterization cores and units that do other stuff (Tensor cores, Ray Tracing). It's just some pieces of the puzzle come out faster in one company compared to the other, and vice versa, so the "next-gen" building parts they currently have are not in sync.

NerdTechGasm explained where the companies are headed years ago. On top of accurately predicting and explaining the hidden Overhead of every architecture from AMD or Nvidia, and how from one to another, one is better with older games, another with newer, DX11, DX12, unexpected bottle-necking, and so on, and that this can flip from from one generation to another.

3050's are all out of stock at prices ranging from $250 up to almost $500, whereas the 6500 XT is available except for the cheapest $200-250 ones that are OOS. There are different ways you could interpret this but I'm not sure that AMD managing to create the only card in a ~18 months which doesn't have all its stock bought up instantly means they've "won."

Neither you nor I, have any evidence of sales, nor is it objectively possible to ascertain if there were enough sales until after a larger period of time has passed (if we even had access to sales numbers). This is not the exact context of my victory post (but Pyrrhic in the meaning I used it is an implication that there is a higher chance of what you said happening).

 

You and I completely agree on the essential point here, it's just the semantics where we disagree xD
