I was the one who first posted the E12 -> E12S changes and that was a LONG time ago. Also, everybody has done it, the E12S is more flexible.

Edit: As @NewMaxx pointed out. The physical differences where due a change from E12 to E12S. Consumer use shouldn't be affected

TL;DR: Sabrent secretly swapped the controller and other hardware on their Rocket SSDs. Didn't even tell their own support staff. 66% less performance

It'd be nice if manufacturers would at least give it a new part number when they do stuff like this...

Yep. The comment calling BS didn't exist before I went to lunch. Corrected myself where needed and editing OP now.

I think I dealt with the reviewer before as he kept asking me about an E8 swap. I was pretty patient about it. Now sure if that's the same review (if it is, it's probably older).

Sabrent does change their hardware but they list all possible variations on the drive's page. Also, their Rocket 4 Plus has better (176L) flash if anything. They've been pretty good about changes. The E12 -> E12S thing was first seen with their drives (a long time ago) but almost all manufacturers followed suit.
