can you tell the difference between the 4k uhd version and the bluray version of the same movie on a full HD screen?

Barely if at all. Your screen is still just 1080p so at best the 4k looks a tiny bit sharper.

If the quality of the 1080p one was high enough, not really. If it's a remastered movie or like a new high-resolution scan of the original negatives I may look different or better though.

You can generally because 4k video has an inherently higher bitrate, many 1080p sources may be 1080p in resolution but can have poor bitrate. Youtube for example, if there is an option above 1080p, u should watch it at that rather than 1080p due to the compression.

 

Similarly with netflix which on its standard HD subscription can sometimes give you terrible quality, While at 4k should the quality drop its likely not going to drop below 1080p.

 

However a high bitrate uncompressed 1080p film vs a high bitrate uncompressed 4k film, your unlikely to notice much of a difference on a 1080p display.
