is 70-80 C temp while gaming okay?

levitate999

I just upgraded my motherboard and cpu from an asus EX A320M + Ryzen 3 2200g (stock cooler) to Asus TUF B450M-Plus II + Ryzen 5 3600 (stock cooler) and I'm noticing that my temp while gaming and watching youtube is around 70-80 C. I ran a userbenchmark and I think it peaked at 84 C. from my previous setup I think I never reached 80+ Temp. probably 60-72 C while under the same load. Is this temp reasonable? or should I buy an aftermarket cooler? Thanks

I dunno how hot R5 3600 is but it shouldn't be that high if you're only watching YouTube, even on stock cooler. Recheck the installation of the cooler and probably reapply the thermal paste?

Humor me, as you should do.

I generally say anything under 70 is ideal, 80 is getting a bit up there but it is the stock cooler after all. it's technically fine to run at 80, 70 is just a personal preference.

@theereal @Arika S ah okay thanks for the input, I guess I just panicked for a bit since on my old setup I never reached 80 before, I guess It's fine since the CPU is more powerful after all

Understandable. I mean modern CPUs can run quite hot and it wont break because of it. Note that stock coolers arent that great at keeping the CPU cool. If you can do it in the future, id buy a cheap 212 just to give it that extra oomph in terms of cooling :)
